Happy birthday Eddie! Chewie got you a present.

Chewie ate the party hats I tried to put on them.

That's so cool. I have no idea what I'd go for after I finish the GED stuff, guess I should think about it.

It's okay not to know. I think. I mean, I wouldn't have guessed marine biology when I was 15. Mostly cause I was scared of the water.

Yeah, I'm not in too huge a rush. College and all of that wouldn't have been an option at home.

That must have been pretty hard though, being afraid of the water and then ending up a mermaid. You're okay with it now I hope?

No? I was supposed to go to America for college, but I guess I'm here now.

Yeah. I got over my fears because these guys that were working on my dad's boat were using the wrong nets and catching sea turtles and things. I needed to prove my dad wasn't doing anything wrong and I didn't know it wasn't my dad at first, so I thought he really was doing something wrong and it felt awful to think so poorly of him because he's my dad, you know? But then we figured out he wasn't on that boat and my dad fired the guy that was.

Yeah, the college life wasn't really something I could swing back there. Did you know what school you were going to?

That sounds pretty stressful. I'm glad you could clear your dad's name!

Yeah. There was a school in California I was going to.

Yeah. Welcome to mermaid life. We've had to do a few things to protect Mako, our parents/families, and the world in general. I don't know if that's usually how things go or not.

Lots of good schools out there.

I can't really say much about mermaids OR normal life, but sounds like they were lucky to have you guys.

We do what we can. But normal is kind of out of the question mostly.

I think a lot of people here have a pretty warped idea of what's normal, anyway.

That's true. I guess considering most of the things people live with, that's fair.
