So much has been going on lately. I think the hardest thing has been trying to figure out how to start wedding planning. Obviously neither Loras or I have been married before, so the most we've been doing is looking at various wedding planning sites and none of them are really very helpful, so this wedding planning is harder than I'd thought it would be.

Nothing is allowed to happen this week. I'm so far behind on my paperwork I literally can't see my desk. Still. I was feeling nostalgic about my time as a teacher, but this month has shown me that I really can't commit to that job anymore. It's mildly depressing.

So I've found the most awesome housemate in an incredible place and I have a lead on a building which might be suitable to set up my veterinary practice. Just gotta find an accountant and then if it all works out staff!

Anybody had any luck recruiting employees on this thing? Or know any good agencies I can use?

You know, I am normally in a good mood. Like, ridiculously so. And I tend to think that's a nice way to be. Not only is it good for the health, it's good for other people too. Being happy puts other people in a good mood, guys.

Except for apparently when it doesn't? Because someone at the store just called me stupid and annoying.

I shouldn't be upset. It's just some stranger who doesn't even know me.

But excitable does not equate to stupid. And, man, what the hell even. So rude. Feelings.

The baby's the size of a honeydew melon now, apparently! I'm 35 weeks along, and only five more to go. THAT'S SO CRAZY. It seems like just yesterday Pete and I were practicing to make one, period! The nursery's all set up and the bathroom's all set with all the stuff I'll need for when the little one starts to arrive.

I should probably tell Pete sooner or later that I'm going to deliver at home, huh.

Planning a wedding is harder than I thought. Maybe just drunkenly getting Elvis to do it was the better idea after all. And we're not even doing anything all that elaborate -- close friends, the family who actually want to come, cake, some dancing... You wouldn't think it would be that difficult to manage.

Miguel insists on making actual invitations, so those of you who are invited will hopefully be getting those in the mail soon. We're still picking a date, but it's probably going to be sometime next month.

For all the complaining, I'm excited to finally have a chance to remember my wedding. Fun as the "got drunk in New York" story is, I think I prefer this.

Pride was a lot of fun. All last month I kept waiting for something to happen to derail our plans, but I'm so happy that it ended up working out. I hope that everyone who went had a good time too. I don't know if I'm just getting too old to party like that or if it was just the fact that I barely slept all weekend, but I'm still exhausted and I slept on the flight back yesterday and most of the day after I got home. I definitely want to go back next year.

Wow, my dad in my dreams is kind of an asshole. My mom told him I was gay, even though she promised she wouldn't and he threatened to call the police on Brian since I'm only seventeen in the dreams. Then he threatened to send me to military school and slapped me after I got in a fight at school. And to top it all off, he somehow found out what kind of car Brian drove and rear ended him, giving him a concussion.

It wasn't all bad though, cause I met up with Brian's lesbian friends and I wound up selling some of my art at the Gay & Lesbian Center's art show. Then for whatever reason I decided to get my nipple pierced. Apparently I thought Brian would like it.

For those of you going to Pride, we're gonna be meeting at [airport Gaz's jet is at] Friday afternoon. If anyone needs a ride, let me know.

I just witnessed the most adorable thing in the world during my break. As a result of the marriage equality news today, Peter Pan proposed to Aladdin in the middle of the break room. They've been dating almost as long as me and Huck and everyone knew it was coming eventually, but since California was being an asshat until now, they were waiting. The best part was that Aladdin wasn't even expecting it. I'm so incredibly excited for them.

God, some of the things I've witnessed in our break room would probably have some parents outraged. I love it.

So we're clearly not the only ones this is happening to, but Ghost and Shadow have been talking non-stop all day. They're very keen on the ninjas idea, though somewhat worryingly excited about all the ninja assassinations they seem to think they'll be doing. I think we should stop their ninja training, Miguel. Also, have you gone to see Altivo today? Has he been talking?

How is everyone else dealing with the talking animals?

It's very difficult being a stubborn person and knowing that you're the one in the relationship who caves at practically everything.

Honestly. All Arthur has to do is turn down his lips into even a hint of a frown and I'm agreeing to things that go against everything I morally believe in. Such as adopting ungrateful teenagers with smart mouths.

I don't remember this being in my vows.

I had such an interesting dream last night... My husband and I were in sixteenth century Spain, gambling in some alley -- at least, I think it was sixteenth century. Granted, my knowledge of history isn't that great. We were winning, but our opponent offered us a map of the New World against all our cash -- and not just any part of the New World, but a map to El Dorado. Miguel was, of course, all over it. I wasn't so enthused, but Zaragoza wouldn't take no for an answer.

Miguel, I love you, but I am never going to take you to poker with me. You are not a good luck charm, darling.

SO. LIFE UPDATE!

The cats are awesome. Shadow follows me around the house, and Ghost likes to ride on my shoulder! Both are adorable, and basically like the best feline ninjas.

AND I LEARNED HOW TO MAKE SOME KINDS OF PIE, AND THEY'RE REALLY GOOD (THANKS NAVI).

I just realized -- I've been on this forum for a while now and have never introduced myself. I'm sorry for my poor manners -- I'm Tulio D'Cline, husband of Miguel, who some of you will already know. I think the most interesting thing about me right now is that I've just acquired two kittens -- I believe Miguel made a post about them a couple days ago. The good news is, we have finally named them! Ghost and Shadow are going to grow up to be the ninjaiest cats.

Lessons From The Dog Park:

[info]daringwaistcoat
[info]valarnet
1. Dirt and worms and mud are YUMMY and it is fun to eat them. As many times as possible.
2. Yorkies are something to be terrified of. So are Chihuahuas. And apparently that little Corgi mix.
3. Don't wear white shoes if you don't want them totally ruined.
4. It is apparently acceptable to pull your human into the cars that your doggie friends arrive in so that you can greet them right away.
5. Humans always should bring treats for EVERYBODY. Because you and your friends can tell when they don't have enough and it makes everybody cry.
6. The fountain isn't JUST for dogs to run in. Pull your human too.
7. The crazy lady with the diaper bag full of doggie items really IS as insane as your human said. Her talk about "Benjamin's meat and gluten allergies" proved THAT.
8. Collars are stupid and to be slipped out of at all costs.
9. It's much more fun to chase your friends than anything else.
10. Playing hard makes it so much more worth your nap in the car on the way back home.

...So Monte (Montagnard and if you get that, we should hang) and I are getting along pretty well then, everything considered. The first couple of nights trying to sleep with him in my face took getting used to, cause he takes up A LOT of room. Like a hundred twenty five pounds worth and growing lot of room, and he is gonna have to sleep on his own bed when I have people over, but he's quite the good boy for being so big and I haven't had a lot of trouble managing yet. Even so, I'm gonna have to get him to a class before too long I think. I don't want him getting bad habits and just ruining everything we've managed so far, but at least we're starting out strong, right?

Hey, I'm new and my name's Anders.

Can we all take a minute to discuss kittens on the valarnet, here? Kittens are insanely adorable little things with adorably tiny paws and great big eyes and the little noses that twitch and their whiskers and all the fluff...

I might be going a LITTLE thick there, sorry. But so. Kittens. We’ve established that they are adorable. They are also, usually, incredibly cuddly and make the sweetest little cooing sounds besides the meows, or at least the gorgeous litter of maine coons someone dropped off at the office this week. They’re absolutely precious little cooing balls of awesome already, really really laid back, and would be great with kids, old people, students who are allowed to have pets, people in their teens to over a hundred..., busy people, people with time to have a companion who likes to curl up with you, tea drinkers, coffee lovers, anybody who doesn’t have an allergy...

Okay so the point is you really need to come and meet our kittens.

We’re in the situation where we’re not a shelter, and that probably won’t happen for another couple years if we get funding, but people bring their kittens to me all the time, and the overnight stay enclosures for the cats are getting pretty full and I’ve had to start doubling them up so my patients can have the peace they need after surgeries.

The dog area is looking much, much better as far as housing them these days, NOT that I’m saying people should run and drop their puppies off with me either. I’m REALLY not a puppy person, even though dogs can be nice, but I have a lot of kittens, and some older cats all really looking for homes who I DON’T want to have to drive to the shelter if I don’t have to. These guys are perfectly healthy, come with shots, and a bag of the food they’re getting here, and when they’re old enough, I’ll throw in a spay and neuter. I’d take them all back with me if I could, but seeing as that’s kind of not an option, I’m going to turn to all of you.

PLEASE come meet the kitties out at City Lickers in Irvine any time you can, we’re even open Sundays, and maybe think about giving one of those precious little faces a good home?

How do you know if you're gay? I mean, not all the way, this person still likes girls, but he might have fooled around with a guy and really liked it.

It's for a friend.

Well! According to my dear husband, I am not being nearly as social as I ought to be.

So this is me, attempting to be social. Hello everyone! The weather's been nice, hasn't it? I'm quite thrilled that spring is here, really.

In fact, I've been meaning to find a good park where I can go and feed the ducks. Does anyone know of any particularly duck-filled parks?

Yours,
Arthur Fell-Crowley
