Anthony is in Palm Springs for the weekend, leaving me all by myself in a brand new city. But when the cat's away, the mice will play, isn't that how the saying goes?

Though in this case, 'play' mostly likely means go to church on Sunday and find some place to have a really fantastic cheeseburger. I've no doubt he's indulging in all the foods he's not supposed to have while he's out of town, so I feel I might as well do the same.

That does mean, however, I need to find a 'burger joint', I think it's called, and a good Episcopalian church.

Any recommendations for either would be greatly appreciated.

Yours,
Arthur Fell-Crowley

Hello. My manager Ursule suggested I join this network. Professionally, I am known as Tina. I am a model, and I just came to this country from France to work in Los Angeles.

I never left France before, so I am both excited and nervous. If anyone can suggest things to see while I get settled here, that would be wonderful.

First night in wine country. It's beautiful, really. This house is magnificent. Taking some time to update here quickly while Rufus is out playing with Charlie/walking him.

PS. I dropped the L-bomb. It was incredibly well-recieved. I could absolutely get used to this fairy tale life. :)

Today, I had a letter, cosigned by their lawyer, informing me that I have been formally disowned, with the agreement that tuition for the next semester (and following) "will be covered, provided that you manage to pass the semester, and contingent upon your remaining free from academic probation status".

My family name and fortune may be retained if I "return to Massachusetts to complete (your) course of study at an approved university, agreeing to a position within the firm upon (your) graduation" and "cease the antics learned in California and grow up".

There's even a form for me to fill out and sign and date to indicate my decision, along with a place for a witness to sign it for me.

I shouldn't be surprised. I really shouldn't be surprised and it's exactly what I wanted but I can't help hating them a lot right now. It's not the money. It's the way they decided to do it that...

I guess I shouldn't have expected more, but I'll survive. I took two pairs of shoes, my boots (yeah I was a little teary there. I'm man enough to say it) and some clothes in to sell today and I've emerged okay for all the major expenses, dropped off some resumes, and I've been taking a look at my expenses this afternoon. It's kind of shocking and depressing and disgusting really:

Courf's Monthly Budget Attempt (Current) )

So, clearly, I've got some big decisions to make, even once I've GOT a job, considering this is what I'm doing AFTER rent. Dropping lessons isn't an option I'm remotely entertaining and if that means I'm getting shampoo at the dollar store, cutting back on the coffee, stopping with the clothes, and making some changes, I'm willing to do it.

There are a lot more important things to consider, sure, but for now, it's a start?

I am so very, very, overwhelmed...

For those who were concerned, my nose was in fact broken. But not out of shape, so it didn't need to be reset, thank god.

In better news, one mister Robert Frobisher and I will be headed out of town starting tomorrow. My parents have a lovely little place out near Napa and we've managed to snag it for ourselves for a week or so.

I'm a bit nervous I've never taken anyone out there before, so hopefully it goes well.

I honestly can't believe it. I feel like a teenager again, I'm positively giddy over this.

Lord, I think I'm blushing.

So, if you were going with your live-in boyfriend to a work function of his, and he booked the VIP suite and some massages and spa ... stuff (seaweed wraps had better be code for free sushi), that's romantic, right?

Just making sure the girlfriend won't punch me in the face.

I say.

Those were the most wonderous dreams I've ever had!

Arks in space, giant robots, fighting Sutekh... if this is a side-effect of this strangeness, I more than approve of it all.

I wanted to call off work today as I think I got about an hour of sleep, but it's not really a good enough reason. Still. I think I got some of those dreams that people are talking about. The hell is in the water around here?

I dreamt that I was the Sif - like, from Norse mythology. Not uncommon, I figure, but it was SO real. So vivid that I looked around my room when I woke up and wondered why it wasn't snowing like in Jotunheim. Thor and Loki were my friends. I dreamed I had blonde hair, and Loki cut it off to make me and Thor fight, and I cried and cried.

Anybody have any leads on what's making these dreams all weird? Or any espresso they can bring me?

I haven't had any dreams here that most seem to have but just listening to people talk about them make me wonder... Wonder what it is like to have them, to wonder, to question. It brings me back to one my Uncle's favorite quotes which paraphrased asks are we the masters of our fate, or are the stars? It is the age old debate destiny vs free will.

Maybe it is just me. Though sometimes, especially here, things seem fated to happen.

It would appear that Valentine's Day is in full swing. I saw a great many flowers, balloons and chocolates going in and out of City Hall today. Does a heart good to see it.

I hope everyone has a very enjoyable one.

A couple of friends clued me in to this network thing, so I thought I'd say hello. My name is Sif. It's Norse, and please don't call me Siffy. It brings back bad grade school memories.

I'm going to be starting work at Orange City Hall soon, and I figure I ought to state up front that anything I write on this network is my opinion only, and does not reflect the opinions of City Hall. I'd like to not lose my job before it starts.

That said, speaking as a private citizen, I wanted to make you all aware of the Immigrant March. Anyone of any ethnicity is welcome, as hey, we're all immigrants except for the Native Americans, really. We're starting at the downtown university campus, and winding up at city hall as we march for the rights of undocumented immigrants and refugees. It's tomorrow, from 9 until whenever we arrive. We got the paperwork all set, so I don't think anybody will get arrested, but we'll see.

The City of Orange is proud to present the first annual Wine Walk through the downtown shopping district. Many of the storefronts will have sales, but I'm sure the main attraction will be the vintages.

Hope to see you there.
