Thank you to everyone who attended our Halloween event on Saturday night, we had a wonderful time reading spooky stories to the children, painting faces and celebrating Halloween together! We look forward to hosting a Thanksgiving event in November for you all, so let me know if you have any suggestions you'd like me to consider for the event!

Unfortunately, due to the recent...unusual activity, Much Ado About Books will be closed for the next couple of days while we assess the situation and whether it is safe to work again, both for our staff and for our customers. I hope you can understand and I will do my best to answer any questions and fulfil customer orders without much delay.

I was this article today and I was drawn to it, partly because I was curious about what they were going to say a polyamorous relationship needed and partly because I am in a polyamorous relationship. I never expected that I'd be in this sort of relationship, but for us it simply felt natural. No one had to talk anyone into it and as the article mentions, we have always had open communication and consent. Sometimes I feel that, were relationships like this accepted in the time our dreams take place, things may have turned out differently there.

I've seen so many people on my social media saying that they enjoyed the Young Adult Literature Convention in London this past weekend. I'm incredibly jealous of all their new acquisitions. Anyway, now I'm wondering if I could host something similar here. On a smaller scale obviously. Would people be interested?

Some sects of our Magic Guild are looking a little sparse, since people have come and gone over the weeks and months. I thought I would put out another open call for recruitment. Potions are not my specialty, but I have been practicing more and more - however, we could use the help there and in most other areas.

Please let me know if you are interested. I'm Zatanna, by the way, in case we have not been formerly introduced.

Just a little heads up, next week Much Ado About Books will be celebrating World Book Day for the UK! We'll be promoting great UK literature in store at reduced prices! Does any one have any favourites they'd really like to see featured?

Interesting fact: World Book Day for the rest of the world is celebrated on the 23rd April! This is because the concept originated in 1923 in Spain to honour the author Miguel de Cervantes who died on this day in 1616. However the UK celebrates St George's Day who is their patron saint. It also clashes with their school's Easter holidays and for these reasons it is now held on the first thursday of March.

After taking the last semester off, while I adjusted to being a Silent Brother, I decided to go back this semester now that I've got a fairly good handle on it. The semester started on Wednesday and classes being Monday. I'll admit, oddly enough, I'm a little nervous about going back, which is strange since I've always liked school. I suppose, being able to read minds, I worry that I may become overwhelmed in large groups despite thinking that I have control over it. I know most of my worries are unfounded, but I suppose the dreams will do that to you. At least I'll have Will on campus if I have any problems.

It's Winnie-the-Pooh's 90th Birthday today.

I remember my mum reading me the Winnie-the-Pooh stories when I was a kid and it's definitely among the must read list for my kids. I loved being read to and I think it's what encouraged my love of books.

Adjusting to being a Silent Brother has been interesting. I can now communicate telepathically and sometimes it happens without my meaning to. Tessa and Will are use to it, more or less, but I was at a coffee shop this morning and when the barista asked me for my order, I accidentally did it telepathically. Oddly, she didn't seem to realize I hadn't actually spoken.

My eyes changing back to brown has also taken some getting used to. When I look in the mirror I still expect them to be silver.

If there is one other person from my dreams who I wish was a real person, it's Catarina Loss. She has a knack for calling me out on my bullshit; especially when it came to Alec. We went out for drinks after Alec and the others left for Idris and we talked about how I felt like the world would have to learn to live without Shadowhunters soon because of Sebastian and she warned me not to do anything stupid, cause I didn't make the same mistakes twice, I just made worse ones. Then she convinced me to retake her position as Council Representative for the Children of Lilith so that I could go to Idris to see Alec and try to work things out with him.

Perhaps someday Catarina will show up. For now, I can only think that me going to Idris won't be as easy as it sounds.

Hurray for World Book Day!

Why not come down to Much Ado About Books to celebrate World Book Day tomorrow? We'll have readings of some classics for kids and adults alike and there will be a buy one get one free sale on everything in the shop!

I know it's been a hard few months with all the trials and tribulations the OC has to throw at us, but come and take your mind off things at Much Ado About Books. We'll be open from 9am to 7pm tomorrow.

From 5pm, there will also be a costume competition for the kids to dress up as their favourite character from their favourite books, with prizes for the best dressed! There may also be an adult competition, but that depends on how many of you come in costume (although I draw the line at anything above a PG rating, so no Fifty Shades of Gray please!)

We're having a survey at the library through the end of August, and I thought I would bring it here to broaden the group a bit.

Which do you find more convenient for your lifestyle:
  • Books
  • E-readers
  • Audiobooks

In an ideal world (where time and money were not a factor), which do you prefer the most:
  • Books
  • E-readers
  • Audiobooks

Personally, I've been sold on e-readers since they came on the market, but then again, I've always been a fan of gadgets.

Does anyone else's cat appear to believe that they're going to starve simply because they don't have wet food? Church always has a bowl of dry food down and I give him half a can of wet food every morning. This morning, he cried outside mine and Will's door until I finally got up, only to find out that he still had almost a completely full bowl of dry food.

Things like this simply prove that cats are smart creatures, because if they weren't then they wouldn't be able to get used to a routine like this.
