I love the snow. The ethereal dance of it across the lawn and trees coating in white stillness. The fading animal tracks in the snow-- birds, cats, deer, rabbits, dogs-- each padding across the propriety before disappearing into the coming day. A snapshot on the hidden world beyond my kitchen window.
It almost too tempting to abandon my efforts here and to run out into the falling snow. Make snow angels, maybe a create a few small snowmen with baby carrot noses, but I know have more orders to complete before I can unchain myself from the ovens, and after that I will need to go to bed to be awake in time for Sunday mass and then lunch with Hannibal.
This week the holiday dessert demonstration at the school was a success. The children were a delight to teach and quite excited spirit away self-made yule logs to their family for enjoy over the holidays. Today I found a beautiful present on my doorstep with a simple faded photograph of the Lecters family in Lithuania. Ah! Mama looks beautiful in her splendor, Father so distinguished and proud, Hannibal young but studious, and I look like a dainty blonde moppet. Upon closer inspection, I noticed something odd. For the life of me, I cannot recall ever have worn such a bracelet. Did I lose it? I will make a note to ask Hannibal about it later today.
Still, the snow makes me smile and I am still taking orders for New Year's...
