We're having a survey at the library through the end of August, and I thought I would bring it here to broaden the group a bit.

Which do you find more convenient for your lifestyle:
  • Books
  • E-readers
  • Audiobooks

In an ideal world (where time and money were not a factor), which do you prefer the most:
  • Books
  • E-readers
  • Audiobooks

Personally, I've been sold on e-readers since they came on the market, but then again, I've always been a fan of gadgets.

Maybe it's the dreams influencing me, or maybe I'm getting softer in my old age, but I've just adopted a little one.

The shelter says his name is Sebastian, but I don't know, that's a little too serious. He always looks like he's a bit stoned, so I've been calling him Bill.

I find myself looking forward to the dreams, I am curious as to what the next chapter in my life in them is. I like the dream-me so far. I make a suit look damn fine. Although I wonder if the skills eventually translate over, I apparently can shoot rather well in my dreams and I've never held a gun here.

I love helping out and being the face and sort of man in charge of the charities I set up, but I really hate when people come up with the "let's do a bachelor auction" idea.

I really hate it when they say I'm one of the bachelors.

So, if you'd like to "purchase" me in a totally offensive, vaguely racist cattle call, Saturday the 21st at the Hyrule Hotel in downtown Irvine is your day to do it. But it does support a good cause - Helping Hands. We help kids out who were in the foster care system for long periods of time by setting them up with lots of scholarships and grants so that they can go to college for as little out of pocket as possible. Education shouldn't solely be an enterprise of the rich.

Got my letter today to remind me to register as a returning student for Creekside high for my Senior year. Man, this summer has flown by. I took a class for advanced swimming, got my certificate, was swapped into someone else's body, fought aliens, and generally had a really crazy time.

And now in less than a month, I start my senior year, with just three classes a day. This is going to be an interesting year.

How many people here have heard of a Color Run? Or what they call the happiest 5K on the planet? If not it's simple: there is no winner, no rules other than you must wear a white shirt, and everyone is invited. At the end of the event is the biggest party ever complete with paint (completely environmentally safe paint I assure you!). If you don't want to participate you could always donate or sponsor someone to take part! I always need another sponsor.

Seems that the sponsors and myself are aiming for Labor Day weekend. I am waiving the entry fee but if you let me know I can send you a form to collect sponsors. We are donating all the proceeds to local children's hospitals and the Make a Wish charity. It would be great if all the celebrities, famous people, athletes and the like could come out too!

I have already agreed to take pictures, sign autographs and the like myself.

I've started a different kind of reading circle at the library. If your kids are interested in joining they can, but these are choose your own adventure novels. Remember those? Anyway, so the way I have it going is that each week, the kids come together and a group of three or whatever, depending on the size, will work together to read through a chapter, and they will all decide together what adventure to go onto, and the next group will be assigned to reading off that chapter the next week.

So far it's going pretty good, but man oh man did I mess up a bit in thinking they'd actually get along in deciding the next path.

It's weird dreaming of that other world, and then remembering things that the other me did, as if they were my own memories. It feels... very... unreal, and yet... almost like they were just things I forgot. Sometimes, I feel like I should accept them, but sometimes... I get angry and I want to like... fight them. I just don't know how.

Somehow, life seems to be settling down again in the wake of so much wildness. After the Husks and Las Vegas, it felt like things wouldn't get normal again, but, they have. And being around people I care about, with a wife who makes me happy, doesn't hurt either.

I like being able to help people in my current job, and I think I will enjoy it as long as I can.

Please bear with the extra security measures in effect at Irvine Hospital during this difficult time.

The safety of the staff and patients are paramount, therefore you may find visits take a little longer than normal.

If you work at the hospital and require an escort to or from your home please make yourself known to the emergency protocol administrator working out of the boardroom.

I am working with other hospitals to implement this county wide.

I've been trying to cut down my hours lately and since I've had varying degrees of success with this in the past I wasn't expecting much but it seems that I'm now finding a much better work life balance. I wonder if it's an indication that I now actually have a life beyond work. I'm not sure I could claim that even just a couple of years ago.

Being the agent of a philanthropic organization is a lot like my old job. People lie, cheat, and steal, I investigate, and manage to help some people, and in the end, there are some good days and some bad days.

Being married, on the other hand, is like nothing I've ever done before. I love it. My wife, the awesomely groovy AJ, makes me happier than I've ever been. I don't know what I did to deserve her, but I than ks the stars I have her.

Thanks to those who talked to me and helped. I really couldn't have gotten through without you.

That's one thing I love about this place. People come together and help each other, a lot. It's enough to renew a man's hope in the world.

I think I have my shop exactly the way I want it. I think, at least.

There's one box of books that I keep bringing back and forth from the shop to my personal library and back again. Books that I don't necessarily need and probably could stand to part with, but that I might read again.

This is the peril of owning one's own business, I suppose. Any advice on letting go of possessions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd just like to take a moment to apologize to everyone on the network who witnessed my inebriation yesterday. It was entirely unprofessional of me to be posting in such a state and nothing like that will ever happen again. Thank you everyone for your kind words none the less.

Stark Industries would like to pick up the medical bills for anyone who was injured at the Stark-Potts wedding last Saturday afternoon. I'll be dropping by the hospital later today to pay those bills. It's the least we can do.

As an update to the wedding, Tony and I have decided to give it another shot although we will be putting the wedding together a little more quickly this time. I've hired a wedding planner to help me with this en devour. Expect save-the-date cards soon, but as a heads up it will be taking place on May 11th a couple hours outside of Malibu on a lovely little vineyard. I hope everyone will be able to make it out a second time.

    [info]princesscadence
    [info]valarnet
My name is Cadence, and I work a lot with different volunteer programs in the area. My church group, along with some other church groups and non-religious organizations are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday morning. I've mentioned it before, and there was some great interest! I'd love for anyone and everyone to come along. Volunteer or not!

The Easter Bonnet Parade will start at 9:30. Children aces 6 and under can enter the Home-Made Bonnet contest. There will be a dozen prizes in different categories. Then we'll have an Easter Egg Hunt afterward, split into different areas. Ages 1-2, ages 3-5, and then ages 6-12. From what I understand, we're going to have about 60 children split into the different categories, and we're planning on hiding almost 400 stuffed, plastic eggs.

I'll be at the location ([Address for a local park]) starting at 6am on Saturday to set things up. Please feel free to come by!

And the dreams are back. This one wasn't so bad. In fact it was kind of interesting. I wound up in a city called Gotham and there was an earthquake, which leveled most of it and it was cut off from everything else. I was working with a group of people to keep the citizens safe. I wound up saving the life of a man who was the Commissioner of the city then I became a super hero. They called me Batgirl.

The really strange part about the whole thing was that the woman who was in my dream, do I was working for, is the same woman I ran into while walking Ginger the other day. So now I'm not sure if it really was one of the dreams or just any other random dream.

I haven't had any new dreams, but the earlier one where I ran away has been reoccurring lately. I lived, more or less, on the streets for ten years. Any other child never would have survived, but considering the training my father put me through, I was more than able to defend myself. Considering how awful my dreams have been, I can only imagine what the rest are going to be like.

I have a doctor's appointment this weekend for an x-ray of my shoulder. Hoping the doctor will give me some good news.

I forgot just how many cars there are in California, and how little people walk or rely on themselves to do just about anything. Every time something goes wrong the first thing people do is blame technology. Or someone else. It's never their own fault, as if responsibly died out with the Do Do Bird. And don't even get me started on the way people treat animals in first world countries.

It all makes me really miss the jungle.

But then I remember my brother's house has indoor plumbing and suddenly I'm right back on the bandwagon. Also, ordering a pint of ice cream for delivery? Totally worth commercialism.

We'd like to see this disease stopped in its tracks. Only problem is I'm not sure where we should write the check. Is that something that I can do through Stark Industries? Or straight to the Pharmaceutical company?

    Does anyone know?

Priceless camera traded for a shitty laptop. Check. Job apps are out and now the waiting begins. Unless someone here wants to offer me a job that doesn't involved nudity, rape or selling my internal organs.

    Hello Valarnet. I'm Abby.

I hope my friends are still okay. Hawke? Bethy? Varric? Isabela? Barbara? Billy? Obi? Fenris? Oh, there are a lot of people to worry about! And I'm sure I'm forgetting some. :-/

I'm still amazed by all the snow we've been having. And we had a white Christmas! I know my students must have been thrilled when they woke up to that. I made a couple of snowmen, myself.

I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. Isn't that remarkable? Southern California having a White Christmas.

I hope it's a very merry one for all.
