Training my new dog seems to be going well. He already knew how to sit, thankfully, so I've been working on laying down and playing dead for fun. We went to a couple puppy training classes to get his obedience in and he's doing much better on walks than the first time we went out. I'm trying to get him to stop jumping up on people since that is proving to be a little more difficult than I thought it would be.

But besides that I think I've finally been hit by dreams. I dreamt I was a young man in the late 1600's in my hometown of Salem and my sister was kidnapped by witches. I know, weird. It just freaked me out more than it should because we had a similar type thing happen when she was younger, so it was like deja vu, but thankfully that didn't involve witches. But I followed along to find her and stumbled upon the three witch sisters in the cottage attempting to drain Emily's life force. The dream ended before I could do anything, but I can't help but feel extremely anxious about the whole thing. If my dreams are going to be like this then I don't want to dream anymore.

Now that I have my bar staffed up again I can focus on some of the fun things I've been planning! Since our last oil wrestling tournament went so well (we raised $2,000 on short notice for local veterans), I've been thinking about making it a permanent thing. There would be a small purse for the winners, with the rest of ticket sales going toward charity.

We're thinking of having two leagues, essentially, one for men and one for women. If we can't get enough participants of one gender we'll figure something else out.

What I need from you, Valarnetwork people, is participation! We'll accept anyone in good physical health who can commit to a tournament once a month. We'll open the space up for practice the rest of the time, and the rent would be very reasonable per hour. There's a $50 sign up fee, and after that you'll just have to show up. This is going to be my favorite tax write off

I am I the only person that does not watch the Emmy awards?

So, I'm thinking about adopting a dog since my place seems a little lonely. I've been wanting a dog for a while and now seems like a good time. I was looking at the OC Humane Society and there's too many cute dogs to choose from. I don't think I want a small dog, but the rest seem like they would be about the right size.

So, give me your opinions! You can check the dogs out here. And if there's one you really want to adopt let me know and I'll make sure not to adopt them. It's a win/win here.

Who's already got their house decorated for Halloween? Plus a costume for herself, and one for her dog? Yeaaaaah, this girl. I can't WAIT.

Is it safe now? Is everyone back to being themselves? I think I saw some big dragons out there at some point! Dragons are so very... very... scary.

Gosh, Orange County sure is a crazy place to live sometimes. I know it was silly of me to move back here because of that, but... I missed the dreams about ponyville and everything too much. I feel like this is the only place I belong anymore.

No matter what happens in my life, as long as I have my dorky dog Daisy grinning at me like this in the morning when I wake up to train, life is good.

Speaking of training - does anyone else on here surf? Some mornings it gets so freakin' cold, it'd be nice to have someone out there to grumble with. I can also teach people who want to learn. Despite what you'd think, surfing doesn't really have an 'off' season.

I think my dog's judging me. I mean, yeah, I've been working a lot, but he doesn't have to give me judgey dog faces when I am home. I have a feeling today is going to involve a trip to the dog park to make it up to him.

As a tall man (6 ft 7in) I've always had some mild difficulty in certain aspects of my life. I flatter myself that I carry my height well, but still, there are issues. A lifetime of stooping has given rise to some back problems as of late, and I dislike taking medication such as painkillers. Perhaps this makes me something of a hypocrite, being a doctor myself.

Does anyone else have difficulties relating to their height? Just out of mild interest.

You know someone's worth it when you make the shower permanently cold. An' cook for them. Cookin' for them is big.

What marvellous things people come up with nowadays. A couple in Venice Beach wants to open an entirely milk-and-cereal restaurant, with a few extra options. They're running a kickstarter, and I chipped in some money. I think it's inventive.

I predict a flood of stoners there at all hours.

I guess I got a few things to say here about what I've been up to in my absence.

Some of it I've probably already said, but I'm on quite a bit of valium right now so everything is comfy cozy and you'll have to bear with me.

• Quit drinking (I know I talked about that. I remember talking about that. Right? Right.)
  
• Had a seizure and ended up in the hospital under observation for a week while I detoxed.
  
• A certain angel of mine needs a medal of friggen' honor for not only going out and buying every single pokémon game while, in my even more drugged up stupor, I said I wanted to play pokémon (actually what I think I said was choose you Casicuno and I'M NOT ANY GOOD AT MARIO KART RIGHT NOW MY THUMBS DON'T WORK YOSHI GET IN THE DAMN BALL) and then bought another system so that he could play with me and I'm pretty sure thought about getting a friggen gameboy color just in case.
  
• He also gets medals for, I think, only leaving my room twice the whole friggen week and managing to combine his endearing, earnest powers with my giant fits of not being a very good person to be around to get me a single room after day one. Like, I'm 90% sure he used my hospital pretend shower thing and every time I woke up he was there and only once did he smuggle in pie for me. It was pie and pokémon. That was all he left for. That's how you know you have a keeper.
  
• Possibly no longer have a job because of being kind of unfit to work? I'm not sure. I really need to call and check on that.
  

And I'm back in my own bed now. Earlier was spent watching Shark Week on the good TV (instead of the hospital one, which true to his word, Cas reminded me of,) and now I'm just sort of staring at the laptop filling space when really I should be making out with my husband since I'm not all hooked up to IVs and the bed is a whole decent size and I can roll over.

Christmas shopping is done, and I still had time today to fit in a float tank session! Today was an awesome day, seriously.

Trying to sleep but every time I doze off I get new dreams.

I think tomorrow I might just spend the day on the beach. Work on my tan and maybe try and make friends with some of our local marine life. I mean, for me tomorrow is just Thursday. I've never actually celebrated the Fourth of July since I spent the majority of my life in Taiwan or Canada. This is the first time I've actually lived in America. I do enjoy fireworks though, so I might find some place good to watch those.

Does anybody here dream they're a toddler? Like, in diapers toddler? I don't know if this is a Dream or just a weird subconscious thing.

I grew up in Portland, Maine, but somehow, I never became aware of the North American Wife Carrying Competition that was annually held in Newry, about two hours away. Apparently a couple wins the wife's weight in beer, and five times her weight in cash.

I do accept that that's a substantial weight of cash. It might be the only sport I can see a point in, though I'm not sure I'd try it myself. ... I mean, I have no wife, but still.

Seems like there's a great deal of stress around town these days. I don't usually announce these things, but I'm having a little get together among friends, and please everyone, consider yourselves cordially invited.
