My nephew is getting so dang big. It's ridiculous. I just want to put a brick on top of his head. He's two now. TWO. Soon he'll be playing with Legos. And I will be buying him every Lego in the world to make him spoiled happy.

Christmas this year is gonna be so awesome. He totally gets Santa, and presents, and all that now. I asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year, and he said he wanted a Dinosaur.

Are you going to get him a dinosaur?

Probably. I mean, I know he wants a dinosaur, but I'll do the best I can.

Dude, I want a dinosaur that I can ride. Who wouldn't?!

Think I should get him a Great Dane in a costume?

I don't think your brother would like that.

Nah, I'd probably be in the doghouse for a while if I did that.

....

I can't think of any other dog puns that basically say yes, so I'll just say yes, you probably would be.

We should go see if there are any Great Danes at the pound.

You're not really going to get your nephew a Great Dane, are you?

I was seriously debating it.

Now I'm wondering if I should be getting myself a dog.

Well, maybe you should get a dog.

Maybe I should.

All right, you've convinced me.

I did?

Yep.

Now everyone can say this is all your fault.

A new puppy for Christmas.

...I might need a house with a yard.

I'm not sure if I want that kind of responsibility.

Trust me, you're going to want a yard. Sophie is a good girl, but I always feel bad for her cooped up in our apartment.

Oh, but I think you deserve it.

Yeah, maybe it's time to upgrade in the world. Bigger place, more space.

[info]completelysane

That's kind of funny. You're upgrading and I'm going to be downsizing once my lease is up. A two bedroom apartment is more room than I need on my own.

Not sure what it'll be like living on my own again. I mean, I'm happy Carolina is getting her house, but I also really got used to having someone there, you know?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]badlocksmith
2017-12-10 06:29 pm UTC (link)
Seems a bit silly, doesn't it?

Yeah, I know how that feels.

Hey, if you think Sophie needs a yard... and you want a roommate? Maybe we should find a house together.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]completelysane
2017-12-11 11:11 pm UTC (link)
Well, Sophie is Carolina's dog, so she'll be moving with her and it'll just be me and the cats.

[Private]
But I've been giving it some thought. Carolina was training Sophie to be a service dog and she was kind of using me to train her. It was nice having her with me when I went out grocery shopping or whatever. I didn't feel quite so -- I don't know how to describe it. Vulnerable? Exposed? Something like that. Like I didn't feel as though I kept having to scan the crowd and look for the nearest exit and keep my back to the wall, you know? With Sophie gone I'll loose all that.

So the short of it is maybe I actually do need a service dog. Someone to watch my six while I shop for bread. And someone to calm me down when I get to caught up in my own head. If that's the case then I will need to move out of my apartment. They have a two animal limit here...

So, if you don't mind having me as a roommate again, we could give that a shot.

Oh that's right. I keep thinking she's yours. My bad.

[Private]
What kind of hoops do you have to jump through to get a service dog? Or do you just get a dog and get it trained? I have no idea how all that works. Sounds great, though.

And your dog and Scooby can be best friends. In our new house. Because I'm in on this idea now. Completely in.

I don't know, but I'm going to do some research to find out. I haven't told anyone else yet, so until I've actually made a decision about getting a service dog, could you not mention it to anyone else. Especially Carolina. She's really happy and I don't want her to think that her moving out has anything to do with me needing a dog.

You're naming your great dane Scooby?

What's wrong with the name Scooby?

Yeah, my nephew turned 3 this year. Fucking weird.

Haven't even thought about Christmas though. I mean, he's too young to remember whether I gave him a present or not anyway, ain't he?

Mine's about 2, but I remember when he was tiny and I was changing all those stinky diapers.

Oh, they're all about Christmas in my brother's place. They're already instructing Roger about being "nice" to be on Santa's good list.

Ha, sucker. I never had to change no diapers.

I wonder what my sister's doing for Christmas My sister's probably doing the same. Though, every time I see Yue he seems nice enough to me.

I don't mind it so much. Stinky and gross, but it's my little nephew. Y'know?

Little ones are pretty nice by nature.

Guess so. Still not a job I'd ever sign up for.

Depends on the little one. Most of them are kinda bratty.

I totally didn't sign up for it, but sometimes it's necessary. So the kid doesn't get sick.

Yeah, that's true. I have high hopes for my nephew.

I suppose so. I don't think Roger has the attention span to watch an entire movie yet.

I don't think I've seen Meet the Robinsons.

Maybe, maybe not. I've heard kids his age tend to want to watch the same damn movie over and over again.

Really? It's cute adorable funny That's surprising.
