After the last few months, I'm looking forward to Magnus and Alec's wedding next month. I'm looking forward to going to New York for the first time. Tessa grew up there, but Will and I have never been, so I think we need to have her show us all the sites. We're trying to figure out what is actually doable in a weekend. I know we can't see everything, but I hope to see as much as possible.

My friend Will told me about this place, so I thought I'd come and check it out. I'm Spencer, I grew up around here, but I was gone for a year. I'm back now, going to UC: Irvine as a Liberal Arts major. I look forward to meeting you all.

So for two weeks in November I'll be going overseas for work. I decided, I have to do it. Or I'll never get over what happened before.

You're coming, right?

The Need/Want will celebrate Halloween - everyone is encouraged to come in costume, please note however we will need to see your face to let you in - but everyone including the dancers are encouraged to dress up!

So I got some crates of cuban rum for friends and some other people. Ain't got any plans for Halloween except to crack one open and give kids too much candy, while watching bloody horror movies.

Lily isn't really into the traditional "girl" stuff, and she really never has been. Sure, she likes dolls and princesses well enough, but she's always gravitated to other characters that most people would say are for boys.

I've encouraged her to love what she loves and not worry about any of that, so when she asked to be Han Solo for Halloween I went out and bought her all the stuff that she would need. And last week when she asked if Yoshi could come trick or treating as her Chewbacca I got online and ordered a bandolier for the dog.

She's been so excited to wear her costume to school, so when I picked her up this afternoon as she was in tears I asked what happened.

Some kids made fun of her, called her names, questioned her sexuality (she's six), and have convinced my sassy, amazing, spirited daughter that she is weird and that she shouldn't go out Monday with the other neighborhood kids because they will also make fun of her.

I'm appalled, angry, and heartbroken all at once.
