After some consideration, I've decided to go visit my parents.

I've just been homesick, lately. I was worried about that almost tsunami a couple weeks ago and since I don't have a job yet, taking the time to go home will be something that I need. Just gonna spend a week, or two, to just regather myself and stuff.

I'm heading out on Friday.

I really wish this dream would stop repea

Well that was a disappointing meeting yesterday. "Your module proposal was rejected because the chosen literature does not meet the requirements for an advanced course."

Then again, the ridiculous requirements and emphasis on test scores and not learning probably have something to do with that. I mean, Chinboy and i have had this conversation before, on what constitutes a 'classic' or why other books are considered to be one or the other. I would think that challenging ideas or looking at themes in a new way and how they can help shape us would fall into the whole idea of expanding knowledge and personal growth. There is more than just ticking off certain books on some arbitrary list if you ask me.

Today is the first ever International Coffee Day and here at Baxter's Bakery we will be having events all day in order to support and promote fair trade coffee and to raise awareness for the plight of the coffee growers all over the world.

So come on down and enjoy a beverage while you learn something new!

It's not too soon to start planning for Halloween is it?

Good evening, Orange County. I was told that this is the place to be, and while I'm not one for a lot of online stuff I thought I'd give this a shot. I'm Steve Rogers, and I just spent a lot of time at the Children's Hospital of Orange County helping them put up Halloween decorations. Yeah, it's the first of October, but it's all they've been talking about for the last week so I couldn't say no.

Has anyone else gotten any decorations up yet, or are you waiting a little while longer?

I've been told apparently reading isn't an acceptable Friday night activity when I was asked what I was gonna do this weekend.

Um. So, what else is there?

Well, then! Long time no post, isn't it? Been busy, of course. Repairs and work, semester full in gear--can't be stopped, me! Seem to have overlooked entirely a rash of sex swapping, another peculiar side effect of living in this county, I imagine. Do really need to get to the bottom of that. Might just have the chance soon enough if all goes well!

Everyone back to being themselves again, then? No complaints apart from a rather rude awakening, albeit a temporary one?

When I got home from work, there was a cat on my doorstep. I have two at home already, so you'd assume that they just smelled cat or kibble and figured they'd lurk.

But it's not that. It's a cat from my dreams. I just know. He answers to his name, he comes when I call, and he follows me around like he knows what I've been going through when I'm asleep.

Cut for photo, visible to all. )

His name is Teacup (Dream me came up with it, don't ask), and he's the most precious thing. Eddie and Bill love him already, they're in a great big pile at the foot of my bed.

Please explain to me why everything is pumpkin and why Americans enjoy this so much.
