I had a dream about another forest last night, but this was decidedly not Lothlorien. This was a place where the trees whispered to one another, and the branches groped and swayed without any wind. It was a freighting place. I was with others--I think I was a "hobbit" again--and we walked for days. When I woke up, it felt like I hadn't slept at all, and everything hurt. Then again, I'm old, so that's a normal morning for me these days.

But what I really want to talk about is a happier thing. I've been keeping up the driving, and I was in the garage this morning when I found a wooden box. A big one. It really looks like a treasure chest. I swear I've never seen it before, which doesn't seem possible, but it is. Inside were some things belonging to my uncle: photographs, clothing, and--more curious--a sword, and a wedding ring. It's been a mystery all morning. None of the help can figure it out. My uncle was never married. As for the sword, I'd like to have it looked at, so if anyone knows anyone who, you know, looks at swords, I would be very grateful.

I just got an order for a Ninja Turtles cake. Oh, boy.

A dog followed me home from school and now he's hanging out on our front lawn. Now my little brothers are completely attached to it. My Dad is going to kill me.

So my I suggested to my father that we initiate a hostile take-over of some weak, goody-good competitor and my idiot older brother Zu Zu was his usual whiny bitch self. He can't see the big picture. He's spineless. And he takes it so personally when father listens to me, and not to him.

Maybe if he stopped wetting the bed his opinion would matter more.

So what do people do for fun around here? I haven't been around long enough to know the best places. Tell me your secrets, valarnet.

You know how you have days where nothing goes right? My entire month has been that way. Nothing quiet like being told your classes are getting cut in half, which also means your income is taking a hit, and then that your roommate has decided to move to Seattle - at the end of the month when our lease expires.

Anyone know of apartments where I don't have to sell a kidney to make rent? No time to find a new roommate. Job hunting begins Monday.
