I didn't realize that Mother's Day was different here in America. Back in England, it's in March, and equally as pointless. It's full of half-hearted sentiment and ridiculous statements written on card in four seconds. The same is true of Father's Day. Pointless. Entirely pointless.
Well, perhaps not entirely pointless. Hallmark and the like certainly see the point; it's almost perfect in terms of marketing. Everyone knows it's a trick, but you must participate in the trick or your fellow victims will see you as selfish rather than in full possession of integrity. It's like shaking a man's hand so he can steal your watch.
