Who: Sarawat Guntithanon & Octavia Blake with a cameo from Phukong Guntithanon When: Backdated: Early December Where: Sarawat's House What: Sarawat is home for break and invites Octavia over to hang out Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly Status: Complete
Sarawat would be lying if he said that he hadn’t been looking forward to the winter break from school. Things had gotten a little better with his roommate and he’d been talking to more people in his classes, but he had been looking forward to getting the chance to spend some time with his family since he’d had to move into his dorm almost immediately after they’d moved to Orange County and he really hadn’t had much of a chance to go home since then. Home being their new house in Huntington Beach, which his mother had not only hired someone to decorate before they’d moved, but had also hired someone to decorate for Christmas. His father being Thai-American, they had always celebrated Christmas unlike the large majority of Thai people who were Buddists.
Upon coming home, Wat had just spent the first few days relaxing and playing music and simply enjoying being around his family. He’d also spent the time talking to his friends, which included Man and Boss back in Thailand, when they could arrange the right time as a result of the fifteen hour time difference and Octavia. While talking to Octavia one night, Wat had suggested they hang out again during the break since she also lived in Huntington Beach and after deciding which day worked best for both of them, he’d suggested she come over to their house.
And of course as luck would have it, the night before Octavia was to come over, Sarawat had his next dream as well as received his next dream item in the form of all the pictures he’d secretly taken of Tine, in the dreams, suddenly showing up on his camera roll. He was currently sitting in the living room, waiting for Octavia to arrive and looking through said pictures.
Octavia was happy that Sarawat was coming home. If only because she enjoyed talking to him. He was easy to get along with. Something that most of her friends were good for, but he was more like a big brother. Which she'd somehow gathered a bunch of. All of them older than her too, which was a tad amusing. Even Bellamy wasn't sure what to do with that. That had been clear when she'd told him about Wat.
Once she was sure their times corresponded with one another and she was set to head out, she leaves her brother a note and text, then heads over to Wat's place giving the door a knock. From the outside? The house looked pretty nice. Most of the houses in the OC did, but some of them were more decorated for Christmas this time of year. Which meant she'd have to walk around at night, or something along those lines, and see what houses were really made up for Christmas.
Like most of the other houses in the area, the Guntithanon house was no different and was probably bigger than they really needed, but Wat’s family was fairly well off and his mother had wanted to live near the beach. Hearing the knock at the door, Sarawat turned off his phone and slipped it into his pocket as he got to his feet and headed towards the door, smiling when he saw Octavia on the other side, “Hey, come on in.” He moved aside to allow his friend to enter then gestured towards an area next to the door where there were a few pairs of shoes, “If you don’t mind, can you take your shoes off?” They might not be living in Thailand at the moment, but they still took their shoes off when they came into the house.
Honestly, she wasn't surprised to see that their house was no different. The Blake House was pretty big itself, but it had to be. Not that she paid any attention to how big the house was. Just like her big sister paid no attention to the Reyes Manor. Some part of her wondered if Raven hated that place or not, but she'd probably ask John before she asked Raven something like that.
"Hey, yourself," she says, giving him a smile before stepping in. The whole lack of shoes would probably be weird at first, but she could roll with it. She slips out of her shoes, placing them with the other shoes which just left her in her green socks that had kittens and christmas trees all over them. "Don't mind at all." That smile, however, only brightens," Hopefully, other than the snow, you've been having a good time."
Wat smirked as his gaze landed on her socks, “Cute socks.” On his own feet were a pair of slippers that he usually wore at home, “Other than the snow, I’ve been doing fine. I’ve heard a few weird things, but haven’t seen any.” He’d seen people on the net talking about seeing characters from various Christmas movies around town, but he hadn’t seen anything of the sort, but considering everything else, he didn’t think they were making it up, “Lets go in the living room,” He said, gesturing towards the room he had just been in then started walking, knowing Octavia would follow him, “So did you find the place alright?” So far Sarawat hadn’t had to get to the house on his own, his mom had picked him up from school the weekend he had come home.
As he led the way towards the living room they passed through a hallway with various framed family pictures showing both Sarawat and Phukong at various ages, one in particular included Sarawat and his best friends Man and Boss from their senior year of high school, complete with their school uniforms.
"Great, aren't they?" It was more of a rhetorical question than anything else. She didn't care who did or didn't like her socks. Octavia thought that they were cute and adorable. Anyone was to argue with that, there was the door. She does, however, follow him towards the living room noting the pictures that were up on the wall. It's obvious that she's a bit distracted, but that's due to pictures up on the wall.
"Found the place just fine. You all actually don't live that far off from us."
Glancing over his shoulder, he noticed Octavia looking at the pictures as they passed and he pointed to the one of him and his friends, “That’s Man and Boss.” He had mentioned them a few times now, but had not actually shown Octavia any pictures of them, “We were seniors there.” He missed his best friends, but being able to occasionally see them in his dreams almost made it feel like he was actually with them when they made their appearances in the dreams, “Oh that’s cool. So you probably know the area well then.” He knew that he was going to have to familiarize himself more with the area at some point.
Reaching the living room, he sat back down on the couch where he had been before Octavia had shown up, “Sit wherever you want.”
“P’Wat, did I hear the door?” Came a voice in Thai a few moments later as Phukong entered from the opposite end of the living room, “Oh, hi. P’Wat didn’t mention that anyone was coming over.” He said, switching to English.
Sarawat had been so preoccupied with his dream and the pictures of Tine while waiting for Octavia that he had almost forgotten that his brother hadn’t gone out with their parents, “Kong, this is my friend Octavia. Octavia, this is my brother, Phukong.” He figured it was only right that he introduce them to one another.
"You all look happy there," she tells him with a smile. It was good to see something like that. Pictures of friends. Even if it was a school picture. Didn't mean they weren't happy. Right? Besides, Wat talked about Man and Boss a lot, so it was nice to put faces to names now. "I know the area real well," she states. "Pretty sure Bellamy would have a fit if I got lost in our own area," she teases.
Moving over she sits down on the other side of the couch before hearing Phukong's voice. Octavia may not have known Thai but she still found it to be a beautiful language. Then again, she'd never heard it before until Wat. Something that she committed to memory, especially since it had been a song at the time.
"I've seen him around, big brother," she says giving Phukong a smile. "Nice to officially meet you, Phukong." Though, she makes a face because she's not even sure if she pronounced it right. Wat probably knew that face and had seen her make it a few times before. He knew how determined she was, though, too. It would get better, eventually.
It took Phukong a moment before he nodded, “That’s right. I’ve seen you around school.”
Sarawat’s brows rose as he listened to them as realization dawned on him, “That’s right. You’d both go to the same school, wouldn’t you?” It hadn’t occurred to Wat until now that living in Huntington Beach meant that Phukong and Octavia would be at the same high school. “Small world.”
“You know, normally most people would think it was weird for a guy in university to be hanging out with a high school girl, but in your case I guess it doesn’t really matter.” Phukong smirked and Sarawat narrowed his eyes at him as if to tell him to shut up.
"Yep, you have."
Octavia was very outspoken even in high school. Just about everyone that she became friends with or who knew her knew just how outspoken she could be. Something that she probably picked up from Bellamy and John growing up. Or any other friends that her big brothers had. Just like everyone knew that she didn't handle bullies well either. She's decked a few in her lifetime.
"Small world, indeed. Guess I'll have to adopt him too," she teases, giving Phukong a smile before busting out laughing. "I'm not sure they think much about it. They just think that he's like most of my other friends that I've basically adopted as family. Though, how they all end up older than me I'll never know." That last bit is said in a teasing tone even if it was something that she'd noticed. She had so many big brothers she didn’t know what to do with them.
Sarawat shook his head, a small smirk upon his lips now as he glanced between his brother and his friend. Phukong did have a point; Sarawat knew that Octavia was totally safe with him since he wasn’t interested in her in any way but as a friend, but other people wouldn’t know that. Luckily they hadn’t had any problems with people thinking anything ill about their friendship. “It’s just one of those weird coincidences I guess.”
“Are you sure you want him as a brother? He can be a pretty shitty one sometimes.” Phukong said, still smirking as he gestured towards Sarawat, clearly teasing his older brother.
"Weird coincidences, indeed," she says with a shake of her head. Honestly, she was surprised that people hadn't given them trouble. Probably because she hung out with her boyfriend quite a bit. If she wasn't with one of her big brothers, then she was with Stiles. Or causing some kind of trouble at school, but not quite bad trouble.
She raises a brow at Phukong and smirks," Does that emphasize how you are too? But, no. I've already adopted him. Which means I'm adopting you too. Hope, you can handle that. Since siblings. So, package deal. Can't have one without the other."
”Tua woon wai,” Sarawat narrowed his eyes at his brother as he easily slipped into Thai to call his brother a nuisance, which suddenly felt strange since it was what he called Tine often, in the dreams. He didn’t think he was going to be able to call anyone that again now unless Tine ever ended up showing up in the real world. “I think you’ve overstayed your welcome, nong.”
Phukong laughed and nodded, “Alright, Phi.” He turned to Octavia, “It was nice to see you. I’ll be upstairs.” He waved to them both then headed towards the kitchen where he was likely to be getting a snack or something before going back up to his room.
“It never occurred to me that you and Phu went to the same school.” Sarawat said once they were alone again, “Also, fun fact, in Thai Sarawat means police inspector and Phukong means police captain.” The mean of their names had always been an amusing story and he figured he’d just tell Octavia now.
The young Blake has no clue what in the word Sarawat said to his brother. Though, considering the narrowed eyes she could gather what was being said, sort of. It made her think of the way her and Bellamy acted around one another.
"It was nice seeing you too," she tells Phukong with a bit of a smile. It's not like she wouldn't see him at school. Then she turns to Sarawat and gives a bit of a laugh, especially at his admission about the same school thing. No one really paid attention to that kind of thing. Why would they? It was even more fun when one didn't know that small little detail.
She cants her head a bit before laughing, "Wait... really? So, you're police inspector and he's police captain? In Thai, at least.”
Sarawat nodded, “Yeah. You can imagine how weird it’s been watching any police drama and hearing my name constantly.” That was probably one of the nice things about living in America now; he wouldn’t hear his name constantly when he was watching tv. “We’ve never really asked our parents how they decided on our names.” He shrugged a little, “Maybe I’ll do that one of these days.”
"I bet that's the best thing ever here," she tells him with a grin. She couldn't picture being named after a police inspector and police captain, or police anything. Despite the fact that her own name came from Roman times and all that good stuff. From books that Bellamy had read growing up.
She gives him a soft smile," I'm sure that you'll get the answers you seek one of these days."
Sarawat laughed again then remembered one of the reasons he had asked Octavia to come over today, “Oh, so I got something else from the dreams.” Picking up his phone from where he’d set it beside him on the couch, he opened it and brought up his camera roll, which was now filled with pictures of Tine; most of which had been sneakily taken of the other boy when he hadn’t been paying attention. “These were in my phone when I woke up this morning.” He said, turning the screen towards Octavia, a fond smile up his lips.
"Oooo. That is always fun," Octavia tells him with a grin. Getting things from the dreams were kind of interesting. Like when she'd gotten the sword that had belonged to Lincoln. There was quite a bit that she'd gotten from the dreams. Some of it she'd told her brother and some of it she hadn't. Like the chains that were under her bed. However, she looks over at the phone before smiling, seeing that fond smile on his lips.
"He didn't know you took those pictures, did he?"
Sarawat shook his head, “Tine is surprisingly oblivious at times.” He sighed and ran a hand through his dark brown hair, his bangs falling back over his forehead as the strands slipped through his fingers, “Even when I throw hint after hint at him.” Not that Sarawat had been overly obvious about his feelings for Tine, but he had hoped that playing a song for him after the night at the bar and telling him not to hit on anyone else while he was busy might have made things a little clearer to the law student. Hell, he’d even shamelessly taken his shirt off in front of Tine twice and openly oggled Tine’s chest more than once. He could only guess how Tine would interpret his drunken kiss.
"Okay, you say that he's oblivious at times and that you've thrown hint after hint at him," she starts. Though, if someone was throwing hints left and right you'd think that they'd get the picture. "Have you actually tried the direct approach? And what kind of hints have you actively thrown his way." Honestly? Octavia would probably be one of those bratty little sisters who shoved big brother at the person and tell them to kiss or lock them in a room together.
Sarawat cocked his head to the side and brought one hand up as he began ticking items off on his fingers, “I brought him snacks during his cheerleading practice, I joined Instagram and only followed him, I’ve asked to grab his chest at least half a dozen times, I played him a love song,” He decided to leave out the part where he’d snatched Tine’s towel to use for himself, leaving Tine shocked and naked in his wake, “I told him not to flirt with anyone else cause he was taken and then I drunkenly kissed him.” There were a few other things, but he’d decided to only mention the ones that he, or at least his dream self, though were the most obvious.
Octavia facepalms at some of the so-called hints. Her brothers were all idiots in their own right, that's what this was. It had to be. Not that she'd ever voice that out loud, but it didn't negate the fact that her brothers were a bunch of dummies. Ones that needed knocked in the head a few times. That included Bellamy.
"One? Drunken kisses send the WAY wrong message. Telling someone that they're taken or not to flirt makes people want to do the opposite," she points out. "I mean, I know what I'd do, but that's me."
“Well I was drunk when I did both of those things. And besides, he asked me to be his fake boyfriend to fend off another guy and then he thinks it’s okay to try and flirt with another girl?” That was the real reason Sarawat had gotten drunk after all. Oddly even outside of the dreams it hurt to think about Tine flirting with Pear after he’d practically harassed Wat into agreeing to be his fake boyfriend to deter Green, “And I also can’t be held responsible for the dumb things I do in my dreams.”
"I'm not saying it's okay," she says with a bit of a shrug. "However, dream you is a goofball if he doesn't just say fuck it and cut him off. After all, if he can't adhere to you being his fake boyfriend in the actual sense of the term ... well, then he's an idiot. A very big idiot." She was still of the mind to have words with the guy if he ever showed up, but she'll reserve that for later. If it ever does happen. "You deserve better if he's going to pull that shit."
Sarawat knew that a lot of people would probably be of the same mind as Octavia, but he had a feeling that things were going to work out in the end, “Yeah, maybe, but you have to admit, he’s a pretty cute idiot.” He smirked, dark eyes glancing back towards the pictures of Tine before looking back up at Octavia. Honestly, if Tine ever did show up, Wat was pretty sure that he’d be completely at the other boy’s mercy.
If Tine ever showed up then he'd get a nice firm talking to. It'd be a talk of 'If you hurt my brother, I'll break you.' Something that the young Blake wouldn't hesitate to do. She'd protect her family, adopted or otherwise, at any cost. Even if that protection was from idiot boys who couldn't see what was right in front of their faces. "Fine. I admit it, he's a cute idiot." The pictures had been cute, after all.
