My mission is to protect you… 35 years from now you reprogrammed me to be your protector here - in this time.
John didn’t have nightmares frequently; in general he slept well – much better than his mother and sister anyway – only occasionally was his sleep disturbed by haunting dreams. And when his sleep was troubled it was mostly memories of the events in Nebraska. This was eerily similar; instead of a dream it felt more like a memory even though that was impossible. His mother had never trained him to be a ‘great military leader’, she had never been placed in a mental institute and he had never gone into foster care. Yet it all felt so real.
The terminator who had calmly informed him of the fate of the world, everything his mother had told him while he was growing up, everything they had used against her to place her in the institute, and it had all been true. He remembered fighting with the terminator when he wanted to get her out of there.
Fuck you, she’s a priority to me.
And they had done it; they had gotten her out of there though he’d been berated for it later. He’d been told off for saving her, for risking his life for hers, because he was more important. He didn’t believe that, not really, without her there was no way he would ever be able to ‘lead mankind’. He wasn’t even convinced he could do it with her. Still her words had hurt and he knew he was crying even before the Terminator pointed it out.
Judgement Day
Miles Dyson; this part of the dream was the clearest. The Terminator flatly lying out the details of Judgement day and everything that would happen when the machines began to take over. His mom’s impassioned speech and the plan to destroy the work before it all started.
No fate but what we make for ourselves
