WHO: Blossom & Billy Kaplan
WHERE: Billy's place
WHEN: April 2nd
WHAT: Blossom is coming over with kit for Billy to use while he's a girl.
WARNINGS: PG
STATUS: Complete
Billy was still freaking out. He’d spent the previous day freaking out, dressed in a hoodie that Grizz had left behind and a pair of his boxers that clung to his girly hips but just felt wrong against his skin and watching TV, tucked up into the hoodie. He’d really hoped that going to bed and waking up again would have fixed it, but that had not been the case. In fact, when he woke up this morning he felt even more like a girl. A girl with really knotted hair.
So he’d taken a shower and brushed it out and definitely not looked at himself while he was naked. It wasn’t like he was in someone else’s body, he was pretty sure, but it still felt disrespectful, and had found some of his clothes that fitted him okay-ish. He supposed, aesthetically speaking, he did look okay. His eyebrows were fierce.
Having texted Blossom he realised just how much of a pig-sty his place was. He’d definitely ridden the depression express a lot harder than he thought, so spent the time between finishing texting her and her arriving stress cleaning. It was less cleaning and more opening the windows and spraying air freshener and shoving his dirty dishes into the machine, and stuffing clothes and shit into any sort of crevice he could find to cover it up.
Shame, he felt a lot of shame.
Maybe he’d call Wanda later. Ask her for some help. They could pretend it was telekinesis practice.
When the buzzer went, he stretched out with his hand - and he did have nice fingernails as a girl, he had to admit - and used his telekinesis to push the button, yelling that Blossom could let herself in.
God, was that his voice? Was that his voice?!
Sinking onto the couch, he put his head in his hands and just groaned as the movement made all of his long black hair flop forward.
Blossom might not have super strength (yet), but she was used to hauling a bunch of things around, so it wasn’t that difficult getting into Billy’s place with her giant bag of stuff.
It hadn’t really taken too much, raiding her own closet for some things that would suit Billy and also be comfortably. She didn’t want to traumatise him with the agony of tight tops and short skirts after all. Blossom wasn’t the most stylish girl to ever run around, but she had her own tastes, and some of that included halter tops and hot pants.
“Hey! So, don’t freak about how much I brought, because I figured better safe than sorry.” She also had a little shopping bag under her arm. “I grabbed some underwear for you, just some cute boyshorts, nothing too wild. And there’s hair ties in there.”
With her bags on the floor, Blossom took in Billy-as-a-girl and smiled a little, “You really are super cute you know.” Probably not a plus side in all this, but maybe a little easier to deal with.
“I’m a hundred percent sure I’m gonna freak out at all the stuff you brought,” Billy deadpanned in his girly voice - which, considering he didn’t really say anything yesterday was still a surprise to him. “But I’ll do my- oh man that’s a lot of stuff.”
He got to his feet and pulled his hands into the sleeves of the hoodie he was wearing, feeling very self conscious in his bare legs and oversized top. He chewed on his lower lip, feeling his cheeks pink at the compliment.
“I’m gonna take super cute as a compliment,” he said, sweeping his hand around. “I have no idea what- this is ridiculous.”
Moving a little closer, he hesitated for a second before he just leaned forward and put his arms around Blossom and hugging her tightly. He’d not really seen anyone since Grizz left and with her in front of him it made him realise just how lonely he’d been feeling.
“Thank you for coming… so what first?”
Considering everything, Blossom couldn’t really blame the need for some kind of comfort, and she just wrapped her arms around Billy for a moment, squeezing like she usually squeezed Bubbles when she needed a little comforting. “It’s not even remotely a problem, okay?” What were friends for, if not for emptying their wardrobe when you ended up in the opposite genders body? Clearly this was the true test of friendship.
“Okay so, this is your underwear, and I have these for you. I think bras would be a little too much torture, these will at least give you support.” And no underwire at least meant that Billy wouldn’t be too uncomfortable.
Moving to pull some of the stuff out, Blossom put the shoes she’d brought to the side, the little ankle socks beside them. “Then there’s some jeans, if you wanna try them, shorts and some sweats, because comfort.” She’d opted to put her super comfy ones in the bag for Billy, in case he just needed that extra softness. “T-shirts, blouses and some sweaters, although those are mostly just home lounging, you know?”
It wasn’t even like Blossom had brought over a third of her wardrobe either. “What do you wanna try first?”
“I never thought I’d be so happy to be given underwear,” Billy admitted as he picked up the bag that had the underwear in it. “And, uh, are we leaving the apartment?” He guessed the answer would be ‘yes’ because as much as Blossom loved him, he had a feeling she’d want to go out and do some things so they weren’t just sitting here in the sadness of Billy’s apartment. “I might try the jeans? Is that okay?”
He picked them up too, draping them over his arm and waiting for Blossom to see if she wanted to thrust a top in his direction but when that didn’t happen, he just picked up a t-shirt. “Okay, so. This,” he held the sports bra out with a finger, “is just over the head, right? I can’t see any clasps…”
“It’s definitely usually a joke gift, or sexier and with a double meaning.” Not that she’d ever been gifted underwear as anything other than a joke between her sisters and her. And even then it usually had unicorns or something on them. Blossom had gone with functional for Billy, nothing fancy or the like, just block colour boyshorts that would at least be similar enough to boxers, but a touch tighter.
“Just for a little while, I promise.” Also why Blossom had brought her car rather than flying over. She doubted Billy would be overly comfortable yet, since the change just happened yesterday, but she also didn’t want to let him mope.
Nothing in the ensemble that Billy picked up looked like it was going to clash terribly, so Blossom figured at least he’d be comfortable. “Yeah, just pull it over and the little adjusters are on the straps if you need to tighter or loosen those.” Thankfully it didn’t look like they would need to deal with a bra fitting for Billy, nothing unmanageable in that area. “But shout me if you need a hand?”
Blossom would just covertly put the detangling shampoo and conditioner in Billy’s bathroom and wait for him to finish.
Billy snorted, “Well, I appreciate the functional nature of these, uh- boxers?” He looked at her for a moment and then disappeared into the bathroom, changing quickly into the jeans and tugging the bra on over his head so that he could at least look at his reflection. Settling it in what he… hoped was the right position, the straps flopped over his shoulders slightly.
Tucking the t-shirt into his back pocket, since the jeans sat well on his hips - a little low for his liking but at least girl him didn’t have too much of a stomach (which was good because he had been trying to work out a little so he’d fit his superhero costume which, oh, man, that didn’t fit him anymore or at least it shouldn’t do. He’d have to try it later) - he padded barefoot out of the bathroom.
“Can you help?” he asked, indicating the bra straps that were far too loose on his narrow shoulders. “I can move the mop on my head if it’ll help? Did I put it on right?”
Blossom was just fishing out the brush and the hair ties she’d bagged up when Billy returned, looking all adorable and disheveled in her clothes. “Okay, those really suit you.” How come they didn’t look that good on her?
And she wasn’t just being nice to a friend in distress, oh no. Billy really was cute. Lovely little face, nice glossy hair -even if it was a messy nest right now- and a really nice voice. “You hold your hair up just now, I’ll get these tightened.” Which Blossom could do and straighten out, so that they sat nice and Billy’s boobs were perky in the bra. “And then we’ll get a brush through that and I’ll ponytail it for you, okay?”
After Billy put on the t-shirt so they didn’t mess it up. “How’re you feeling?”
“Less naked,” Billy admitted with a rueful smile, running a thumb under the bra strap and marvelling at how much of a difference it made to the way he felt in this alien body. “And more comfortable.”
He tugged on the t-shirt and pulled his hair loose, turning to look at Blossom and holding his arms out, ignoring the way that he felt his cheeks flushing again as she complimented him once more. The t-shirt was soft and comfortable and not too tight, but it didn’t feel too dissimilar to something that he’d wear as a boy. Just a little more form fitting.
“Don’t be disappointed when I wake up as boy me at some point,” he teased, turning on the spot before holding out his hand and using his powers to bring a stool over. “Is it cheeky to ask you to do my hair?” he asked, sitting down anyway and turning away.
Okay, yeah, girl’s clothes were comfy. Even if he could feel the band of the bra around him like a really tight, bordering on slightly uncomfortable, hug.
It was probably super strange to suddenly be an entirely different person, although Blossom could still see bits of Billy there -the blush, the hand gestures, his eyes hadn’t changed. So it wasn’t too daunting for Blossom. In some ways, girl Billy reminded Blossom a lot of Buttercup.
“I won’t be disappointed, I promise.” It’d be a fun change for a bit, she was sure. And Blossom rather liked sharing clothes and helping out, but she wouldn’t want this for Billy forever, that would be just far too big a change for him, far too different. It wouldn’t be fair on him.
With the brush already in hand and some hair ties around her wrist, Blossom just snorted, “Like I’d make you fight with your hair on the first try.” Since Billy clearly hadn’t tried to do anything with it when he’d been hoping it wouldn’t last very long. “Besides, I totally don’t mind.” The brush got the remaining tangles out of Billy’s hair and Blossom opted to just copy her own mid-height ponytail rather than go for anything too fancy. “That should stop it bothering you for today.”
Billy's shoulders loosened a little, posture relaxing as Blossom confirmed she wouldn't get used to him like this. He didn't... hate it, but he also didn't love it. It was an interesting way to see how the other half lived, and settled that part of him that was curious as to what he might have looked like, or what it might have felt like to be a girl. It'd definitely be easier to date boys like this than his lanky boy self. But still.
He closed his eyes, humming a little as the brush moved through his hair. He'd never really had anyone do his hair for him since his mom stopped doing it when he was like, seven, and the sensation of the brush swooping through his hair made his scalp tingle and then it was over and he was disappointed. But the hair was back and out of his face in a ponytail (he reached back to feel it and pull the length over his shoulder to fiddle with) and it felt so much better now it wasn't a bird's nest on his head in his face.
"Thank you," he said, slipping off the stool to bend and grab the shoes and socks. Standing awkwardly, he pressed the sole of the shoe against his own foot. Remarkably, it looked like it might actually fit him which was a stroke of luck that he sorely needed.
He shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "I- I really do appreciate this."
In some ways, Blossom rather felt like she was doing something just now. She was needed and this way she could be there for Billy in a way that wasn’t just a shoulder when he felt like he couldn’t deal on his own. She wasn’t oblivious to the fact that Billy was hurting from Grizz leaving, and she understood if he needed some space and time to deal with it.
Right now, Blossom could actually do something.
“Really, I don’t mind, this is what friends are for.” Blossom was used to other girls being around too, she was used to Buttercup and Bubbles being around and sharing stuff with them.
“We’ll go out, get you some other stuff to stay in with, um. I think we should get some food shopping done too.” She didn’t want to point out that she could tell he’d been slobbing about, but it did worry her.
Man, was it obvious that he hadn't been eating properly? He glanced down at himself as though he'd be able to tell in this strange new body, and his attempt at cleaning that apartment had been desperate and not particularly thorough but he'd shoved all the stuff that was on the sides into cupboards so that the place was at least not looking like a total slum.
But just... everything was really hard. And Grizz had done a lot around the apartment when Billy just couldn't and now he was living alone and it just-
It sucked.
He probably looked somewhere between embarrassed and crestfallen as he just nodded his head. "Y-yeah, food shopping would be good." His stomach rumbled in agreement. "Maybe we can grab food too? My treat?"
“Shopping is always better with a buddy.” She could imagine the change that Billy was going through, from living with Grizz to being alone, and Blossom understood that. It was so hard for her at the start, moving into her own place when she’d been used to living with her sisters and dad. So she didn’t think there was anything wrong with how Billy was currently handling things.
“I’d love lunch,” besides, it meant more time making sure Billy wasn’t getting tangled up in his head. “Maybe a movie after, yeah?”
Plans, outside plans, plans that got Billy out of the apartment and into sunlight. Those were good.
“Well, I mean, at least in a dark movie theatre no one can see me, right?” Billy grinned a little and reached out to pick up his own hoodie when he remembered it might be too big. There was a zip-up one in one of the bags that Blossom had brought over, though, so he snagged that and tugged it on, settling it over his shoulders.
Even his clothes hung differently on him.
“So lunch and a movie and then just… shopping in general?”
Given how good Billy looked in Blossom’s clothes, it was likely that there would be a few looks. And definitely not in a bad way. “It sounds okay, right? But you know, if you get uncomfortable, just tell me. We’ll go home, okay?”
She did want to make sure Billy was okay and out and about and bouncing back. But she didn’t want to push him into something awkward.
Least of all while he was dealing with a sudden forced genderswap.
“Promise,” Billy said quietly with a nod of his head, bumping Blossom with his shoulder once he’d checked that the shoes weren’t going to fall off his feet. “I’ll do my best not to decide we gotta leave as soon as we get there.”
He held out his hand, using his powers to pull his wallet towards himself and eyed it for a moment before just taking the cash and cards out, sticking them into a- “man, girl pockets are really small” - pocket and jamming his phone into his back pocket.
“Okay. I think I’m good? Shall we?”
The funny thing about being friends with an introvert, you just had to hope they were okay with the amount of activity going on. Blossom spun her car keys around her finger, laughing at Billy’s comment about pockets. “That’s why most girls have handbags.” Because there really was a problem with pocket sizes.
“Let’s go, I promise I’ll protect you.” Although at least Billy had his powers still and could use them well.
