Who: Alice Liddell and Logan Howlett What: Coming to an arrangement When: Novemberish? Sometime pre Christmas but post Halloween Where: Logan's house Rating/Warnings: Medium. There's talk about sex so be warned ya'll. Status: Complete when posted.
Alice had taken a shot in the dark on what to order Logan when she’d stopped to grab food on the way to his place, her dad having offered to keep Kurt for a little while so that the two of them could talk. Without the distraction, adorable and sweet as he was, of their son. She hadn’t gotten drinks for either of them so she wasn’t having to try to balance that with the food and the bag with her pump in it, just in case she ended up needing it before she got home.
She knocked on the door lightly, cell phone going off with the text alert of her dad sending another picture of what he and his grandson were up to with their afternoon at the park. If she didn’t know him she’d think he was using the baby to pick up women with the fact that everytime he watched Kurt they ended up either at the park or the zoo.
***
Logan had plenty of drinks. Mostly beer and water. But he had the drinks. He pulled open the door about a half second after she’d knocked, grabbing one of the bags of food from her. “Come on in.”
He didn’t know what she wanted to talk about specifically but he wasn’t going to worry about anything until they did chat.
***
“Pretty sure my dad’s using Kurt to meet women,” Alice said following him into the house and nudging the door shut behind her with one elbow.
***
“Good idea, I was plannin’ on that myself,” he replied, only half-jokingly. “Beer? Or just water?”
Honestly he forgot if she could drink or not and didn’t really care.
***
Alice laughed. “Cheaters both of you. I can’t use him to meet anyone.” She joked back. She wasn’t technically old enough to drink but she knew she was safe here with Logan and one beer wouldn’t mess her up too badly and worse came to it she could always pump and dump. “I’ll take a beer. And the burger with mushrooms is mine. I wasn’t sure what all you’d want on yours so I tried to guess and just got you a double cheeseburger and fries.”
***
“You guessed right,” he assured her. Setting the bag on the table, Logan made a bee-line for the fridge and pulled out two Guinesses, using his claw to open them. “can’t beat a cheeseburger.”
***
Alice sat down at the table, opening up the bag of food and pulling out a pack of fries and popping one in her mouth as she watched him open the beers, swallowing almost without realizing she had. “Next time I need a jar opened at home I should call you. If nothing else you could puncture the lid with those I think.” Alice said as she pulled out the burgers, opening the edge of one to see it had mushrooms and then pushing the back towards Logan as she reached for the beer. She took a sip setting it down as she reached for another fry.
“I did have a reason for dropping by other than checking out your claws and getting to enjoy a grownup day,” she said with a half smile as she looked at him.
***
“Can puncture a lot of things,” Logan pointed out, pretty sure they’d come out mid-coitus when they’d made Kurt. Which happened sometimes.
He sipped from his beer and leaned back against the sink, waiting patiently for her to talk.
***
“I remember. Also pretty handy at shredding.” Alice told him with a small smile as she remembered what had happened to her dress.
She bit down on her lower lip. “I wanted to see if we couldn’t figure out how to do holidays. Halloween was fun. I liked both of us being with him and taking him out. And also I wanted to ask if...that offer still stood about helping scratch that itch.” Just because she’d decided she didn’t want a relationship with anyone right now didn’t mean she didn’t still have desires and when it came right down to it her sex toys only helped so much.
***
“I make a good santa,” Logan promised, remembering many instances in his dreams. Which was sort of a mistake as it made him miss those people, and that place. Yes, even Scott.
And he missed Vel and Ame who he never expected to see again unless Ame decided she wanted to meet her father. And he missed Alyssa, who he’d never see again. Girl like that went to the good place. Logan wouldn’t die at all, or not for a long time, and he expected to end up in hell again.
Either way, every family he’d tried to build he’d lost, one way or another.
He quirked his eyebrow, remembering her in that damn costume. “Got itches that need scratching, do you?”
***
“I’m having some trouble picturing you with a white beard so you might have to prove that claim about making a good Santa,” Alice told him, pushing the bag with his food towards him as she bit into her burger.
“A few. And I’m not able to take care of them on my own.” She told him honestly, leaning back in the chair slightly as she watched his face.
***
“I can get a costume, easy,” Logan assured her. His eyes flickered up and down her body, and while it might not be the best idea, she was an adult.
“Can’t say I wouldn’t enjoy it. But scratchin’ the itch is about all I could give you, darlin’”
***
“Just no going down chimneys alright? At least not for Kurt. Because we don’t have a fireplace at our house.” She said, sipping at her drink again.
“Logan...I know first hand what a horrible idea it can be when parents stay together, or get together for the sake of their kids so I’m not looking for more than that. And surprisingly guys on campus aren’t that interested once they find out about Kurt. And I’m not going to lie about him. With you - I trust you, that it won’t change things between us, that it won’t mess things up for us when it comes to doing the best we can for Kurt.”
***
Logan could cut a chimeny, easy. He looked around as if considering the idea.
He nodded, pushing off of the counter and walking over to cup her cheek. “What do they call it? Friends with benefits?”
***
Alice had to resist the temptation to lean into his touch - she’d always been a tactile person but right now she needed to fight that. For at least another few seconds. “I’m pretty sure that’s what they call it. Do we have a deal?”
***
Logan studied her for a few moments. He couldn’t (wouldn’t) be able to just be with her, but he could scratch her itch. He nodded. “We have a deal.”
***
Alice wasn’t looking for anything more than friends with benefits and that was the truth of it. She didn’t want a relationship with anyone right now, wanting to focus on herself more than she had in the past and that was a big part of why she’d brought it up to Logan. Taking care of herself and her needs.
She let herself lean into his touch, looking up at him. “I’m glad. I might have been tempted to get sneaky and creative otherwise.” She was joking about that for the most part.
***
“They make toys for that you know,” Logan joked, hands sliding down her sides and then to her hip. “Think you could wear that cheerleader costume again sometime?”
***
Alice pretended to give some serious thought to his comment about toys as she stood up from her seat at the table, food and beer both forgotten for the moment. “I’ve heard that but...seemed a little too much like settling when I had a friend who might be willing to help with it.” She teased gently.
“My old cheerleader uniform? I might be able to pull that out of the closet again sometime. It was fun finding out I could fit into it again.” That had been a bigger ego boost to her than fitting back into her dresses from prepregnancy.
***
“Ain’t sure if it’s more or less work for you,” Logan joked, rubbing his hands on her hips. “Depends on who’s on top. And if you keep the skirt part on.”
***
“I don’t see any reason why we couldn’t switch it up sometimes with who’s on top. And so long as you promise to try and not shred it...I could keep the skirt on now and then.” Alice said, hands coming to rest against his chest as she looked up into his face.
***
“I’ll be sure to treat it extra careful,” Logan promised. His fingers dug into her hips and he lifted her up, pressing her against the nearest surface but stopping just short of kissing her.
“Mostly.”
***
Alice slid her hands up to rest on his shoulders, close to his neck as she slid onto the table so that she was sitting on top of it, her burger shoved back a little bit and knocking into her beer which all she could do was hope didn’t spill. She let out a soft sound of displeasure when he stopped short of actually kissing her.
“Same rule applies to me you know - only mostly.” She closed the distance between them and kissed him.
