Who: Simon Lewis & Isabelle Lightwood When: Backdated: Early October Where: The Institute; Their room What: Couples who dream together... Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly Status: Complete
Simon had always looked forward to his dreams even if his life in the dreams wasn’t exactly ideal and even if the dreams had turned him into a vampire in the waking world. He still always looked forward to them until now. Since they had entered Edom, while he wanted to know what happened next, he was worried about what he would see. They were going to face off against Sebastian and after what had happened to Jordan, Simon was worried for everyone.
And he was right to be worried.
Opening his eyes, the events of his new dreams came back from the cave, to the demons and the demonic Alicante. It hadn’t been all bad though, because he and Isabelle had finally DTRed their relationship, but not before Simon had ended up drinking from Alec. That was going to make things a little awkward the next time he saw his girlfriend’s brother, but luckily that wouldn’t be too soon since him and Magnus had just moved out of the Institute.
While he thought it was incredibly awkward, he was sure that when he told Isabelle, she would find it extremely amusing. Sometimes he wished that he could be as carefree as his girlfriend and not worry so much about what others thought, but it was hard for him.
Glancing over at his still sleeping girlfriend, he scooted over, closer to her and wrapped his arms around her. Unlike in the dreams, Alec was not about to walk in on them so there was that at least.
Izzy, meanwhile, had been having some dreams of her own which were ironically in sync with Simon’s ones. Neither of them knew this yet of course. Izzy liked the dreams too, while they were a lot more complicated than their waking lives it was kind of exciting to see what would happen next and she had always been good at separating the two.
Slowly coming to wakefulness Izzy’s lips curled into a smile as she felt Simon’s arms holding her, “You okay?” she asked him softly, turning her head a little as she rested her own hands over the top of his.
“Yeah, of course.” Simon smiled as Izzy turned to look at him. It might be silly, but Simon always enjoyed that look on Izzy’s face when she first woke up in the morning. “Does there have to be something wrong for me to want to hold you?” Yes, it was sappy, but Simon couldn’t help it. He still couldn’t quite believe that a girl like Izzy would date a geeky guy like him.
Izzy smiled back lovingly, “Nope, not at all. I am exactly where I want to be” she told him before pressing a kiss to his lips.
Simon smiled as he kissed her back then rested his head back on the pillow and sighed, “Besides, at least here, now, there’s no chance of Alec accidently walking in on us and getting mortified like in my dreams. He’s always got the worst timing.” That made two times now that Simon had walked in on him and Izzy, kissing, in the dreams.
Izzy laughed, “If he walks in on us here then he has nobody to blame but himself since he doesn’t live here anymore” she replied, “Besides he’s such a drama queen, it’s not like it’s such a bad thing to see us kissing” she rolled her eyes but was still smiling.
Simon laughed and nodded, “Right? He acts like it’s this big thing and right after he basically tells me that he’s cool with us being together.” Simon ran one hand up and down Izzy’s arm, “Oh yeah, FYI, I had more dreams and he said we’re cool.” He was obviously unaware that Izzy had also been dreaming at the same time as him.
Izzy turned so she could look at him properly, realising they must have reached a similar point in their dreams she grinned, “I should hope so too. After all he did let you drink from him” she replied waiting for Simon to make the realisation she’d just had.
“Yeah, I know. I…” It took Simon a moment, but when he realized what Izzy had said, his eyes widened slightly as he looked over at his girlfriend, “Did you dream too?” In all the time they’d both been dreaming, Simon didn’t think they had ever dreamed at the same time before. “You dreamt about the cave in Edom?”
Laughing softly Izzy nodded, “I did, it seems like our dreams are finally in sync” It was something Izzy had often thought would be pretty fun but hadn’t expected to actually happen.
“After all this time.” It has only taken them years for their dreams to get to this point at the same time. “I’m just glad that we never have to actually go to Edom. That place is not somewhere I’d want to visit.”
“Not exactly a prime holiday spot” Izzy agreed, “Some of the stuff in our dreams is cool but overall I prefer reality” she said with a smile, before she kissed him again.
Simon laughed and kissed her back, running his fingers through her dark hair, “Yeah, lets definitely not get a timeshare there.” He really hoped that they managed to save Magnus, Luke and Raphael soon so they could get back to New York.
Izzy laughed, “Agreed no timeshares” she grinned, “Speaking of that kind of thing Alec thinks we should get an actual place together rather than living here at the institute” she said, looking at him curiously, “What do you think?” Izzy herself thought the institute was pretty great but it did make having visitors over a little tricky if they weren’t dreamers.
“I mean, it wouldn’t be a bad idea. This place is pretty huge for just two people. Do you think we can afford it?” Aside from his gigs Simon didn’t exactly have a real job. Perhaps it was time to change that, but he didn’t really know where he’d want to work.
“Honestly probably not at the moment” Izzy admitted, which was part of the attraction of living at the institute since they didn’t have to pay rent or anything. Izzy was on a pretty good wage as manager of Baxter’s 2 but with hers the only reliable income it would make things a bit tight if they got their own place.
“I mean, we got a good thing going here right now.” It wasn’t that Simon didn’t want to work, but so far they’d been getting enough gigs and taking in enough that he hadn’t really needed to, but it was probably time to start looking, “I have some ideas though, so I’ll start job hunting soon.” It was a good thing that Simon was a Daylighter, so he wouldn’t be restricted to only working at night.
“We have” she agreed and honestly she loved that they were both doing things they loved. She wouldn’t want him to be stuck in a job he didn’t like just so they could move somewhere when there wasn’t really anything wrong with living at the Institute. “Okay” she nodded, “Find something you want to do though, okay?”
“I’ll make sure that it’s something I want to do.” Simon kissed Izzy again before settling back down in their bed, “How about we sleep in for a little while longer.” Simon wasn’t sure exactly what time it was, but he was pretty sure it was still fairly early.
“Mmm that sounds like the best idea ever” Izzy agreed settling down with him once again with a smile.
