Ever since demons and the dead had invaded Orange County and Klaus made up with his sister he had kind of forgotten about Tyler. He didn’t need someone to distract him from the mess that was his life. It was all back together, or as back together as it got for Klaus. At least that was what he thought until his date, or well fuck buddy, threw him out the window. Now his place was a mess and he wasn’t going to be the one to clean it.
Klaus called Tyler to come over and waited impatiently until the hybrid arrived. “Next time I’ll have to remind you not to take your time.” Klaus said stepping outside, leading Tyler over to the side of the house underneath his window. “Clean this up.”
The last few days had been blissfully Klaus free, something that Tyler had felt was needed after his talk with Caroline. He couldn’t argue with her; Klaus really did summon him far too often.
Which was only proven when Klaus had called for him, again in the evening. He’d made his apologies to Caroline, feeling more than a little guilty after their conversation about exactly this, and he dragged his feet on his way to Klaus’s place, trying to figure out how, exactly, he would tell Klaus that this couldn’t continue.
“The hell happened here?” he asked, taking in the sight of the broken window and shattered glass.
“I didn’t call you over to ask questions,” Klaus snapped at Tyler. Really after the night he had he was in no mood. “Just clean it up.”
Tyler pressed his lips into a thin line. The overwhelming urge to pick up a trash can and do what Klaus had asked was there, but he planted his feet on the floor. “You can’t keep calling me to do every little thing for you, Klaus,” he said. “I have a life.”
Klaus scoffed at his response. “Do you think I care about your pathetic little life?” Klaus replied. “There are much more important things than being a bouncer at my brother’s club and your pitiful girlfriend.”
Tyler glared, though even as he did so he moved toward the garbage can and brought it over to the window, where he began to pick up some of the larger shards of glass with his hands. He wasn’t worried about cutting himself; it would be healed before he even noticed it happened. “You know, Klaus, one of these days you might just wear out my gratitude.” He didn’t know if that would work, but he sure wasn’t feeling very grateful for the sirebond now.
Klaus watched Tyler follow his orders with a satisfied smirk. This evening was not going how he planned. But at least he knew he could still count on Tyler. “Well then if” Klaus began already knowing that it was impossible for that to happen. “That day comes I suppose I’ll just have to find another werewolf to sire.”
“Good luck with that,” Tyler said. All the werewolves he’d know about in the OC had moved on. Not that he could blame them. They obviously had more sense than he himself had. “I’m not asking for much, Klaus. Just not coming to pick up after you every time you throw a temper tantrum.” Because why else would his window be broken?
“I don’t throw temper tantrums,” Klaus shot back through gritted teeth. Really, between Jessica and now Tyler Klaus was having quite the night. Though he supposed on some level Tyler was being reasonable. When he wasn’t getting along with Freya or any member of his family he knew he could always count on Tyler because well Tyler had to do what he wanted. But part of Klaus wanted Tyler to actually like spending time with him.
“Right, well then, for every time you decide to break your window for some perfectly logical reason then,” Tyler said, the sarcasm not immediately obvious in his voice.
“I didn’t break the window,” Klaus replied his tone back to a growl. “What were you doing that was so important anyway?”
Tyler gave an almost sceptical look at the window, wondering how else it had managed to get broken if Klaus hadn’t been the on to do it but knowing better than to ask. “It’s not like I was doing anything especially important. But it would be nice to actually get to spend time with my girlfriend once in a while.” And not have all his free time spent cleaning up after Klaus.
“You wouldn’t have a girlfriend if it wasn’t for my blood,” Klaus reminded him. Even if Freya had defied his wishes to give it to Tyler. “Now thank me properly and finish cleaning this up. Then you can go back to your pretty little girlfriend. Tell her I said, hello.”
Klaus had a point, and for a moment Tyler felt a rush of gratitude for Klaus for saving her, and he expressed as much with a heartfelt thank you. That was, right up until he forced himself to remember that it had been Freya, not Klaus, who had saved Caroline.
He finished cleaning the glass and got to his feet. “I’ll see you later, Klaus,” he said, dumping the last of the shards into the garbage can.
