I’ve been dreaming for… three I think? But each set of dreams stretches decades.
Who: Bo and Lara
What: Relaxing on a boat
Where: On a boat near the private dock/beach of Croft Manor
When: Recent
Status: complete
Rating: PG-13 for Bo-typical flirting
It was definitely nice to finally make some use of their boat. Bo had gotten a new bikini, though it did nothing to cover the scar from the dagger. Bo was actually self-conscious of the scar, partly because Lara had given it to her, and partly because her healing ability did nothing to heal it. It was unnerving, but she could ignore most of the time.
Grabbing a towel, she had intentions to work on a tan and just relax. Both she and Lara deserve some downtime, and this was definitely a good idea. Bo started spreading the towel out on a perfect spot on the boat where she could get some unobstructed sunlight.
Lara had tried to teach Bo proper scar coverup tips, but it didn’t really work when they were in the water. It just washed off. She was well aware of what it was like to feel self-conscious - her body was criss crossed with scars.
She watched Bo spread out the blanket, then came over and held up lotion, “I know it’s not a problem for you, but I’m going to need to be lathered up.”
Her own swimsuit was a bit more modest - Lara didn’t do bikinis.
She was definitely thankful for the tips about covering up the scar. They came in handy when she wore low-cut tops. And in a way, she did understand how Lara felt about scars, though obviously not to the same extent.
“Problem or not, I do try to not come out looking like a lobster,” Bo quipped as she straightened and took the bottle from Lara. “Or are you just giving me another excuse to grope your muscles?” She smirked as she squirted some sunscreen into her hand so she could start applying it to Lara.
“Do you actually need an excuse,” Lara asked, turning her back towards Bo. “And can’t your healing cure sunburns?” She’d figured Bo’s nature made her immune to that sort of thing. At least she hoped it did. There was enough to worry about with Bo without adding certain illnesses to the list.
“No, no I don’t,” she quipped and started to rub the lotion on Lara’s back and other exposed skin. “I suppose it does, but I’ve never actually tried it. Course in my dreams I didn’t exactly live by the ocean so I didn’t lay out on a beach to find out. And I guess I’m still used to playing it safe from having been human my entire life up until two years ago.” To think that it had only been two years or so since she’d started becoming succubus. And it had been two and a half years since she’d met Lara.
“Okay. I’ll lather you up too,” Lara decided, and certainly not from any sort of ulterior motive, no way.
“I can’t believe it’s only been that long.”
Bo smirked, working on getting Lara’s body covered. Of course, her hands lingered over muscles more than was strictly necessary. But she really couldn’t help it.
“I know, right? It feels like it’s been a lot longer than that.” Orange County had a way of making it seem like a lot more time had passed given everything they dealt with. Dreams, OC craziness, it all packed a lot of life experience into a short amount of time.
“Feels like a lifetime,” Lara commented. “Or six.” She closed her eyes as Bo massaged the lotion into her body, and didn’t mind the lingering on her muscles. Bo’s obsession with her body was a hell of a self-esteem boost.
“Tell me about it,” she said, squirting a little more lotion into her hands and continuing on with covering the rest of Lara’s skin. “This place has a way of making time pass differently. Or at least seem to pass differently.”
“Maybe it is. Making time pass differently. How many times have I lived a life? Years.” Lara wriggled under Bo’s hands and sighed heavily. “I’ve been dreaming for… three I think? But each set of dreams stretches decades.”
She shook her head, “I feel old.”
“I can’t say I understand how it is to feel old like that, but the dreams have a way of distorting time. Not always for the best considering the nature of some dreams.” Bo knew how Lara felt about her dreams. And as much as she wished that her wife wouldn’t be tormented by anymore dreams, Lara Croft was a fixture in pop culture, and she wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Not to mention, Lara Croft was an icon for women, an empowering figure making her own way in life and taking the lead. She didn’t play the sidekick to a man, she was her own ass-kicking, highly intelligent woman. And Bo loved that about her.
Finishing with the lotion, Bo couldn’t help but to get another grope in of the muscles. “Alright, you’re now shielded from the bad effects of the Sun.”
Hopefully she wouldn’t wake up bleeding anymore, but with the direction her dreams were taking her Lara knew that was only a matter of time. But she wasn’t going to think about it. Instead, she took a seat on the deck and gestured for Bo to come down and join her. “Like a shield.”
She smiled and went to join Lara on the deck, moving to sit in front of her and lean her back against her and snuggled in. “Definitely like a shield. It definitely comes in handy, doesn’t it?” And at least Lara wouldn’t turn into a lobster or something, given her English complexion.
Looping her arms around Bo’s waist, Lara kissed her shoulder. “Very handy. It’s required supplies on every expedition or I’ll combust. Pity you aren’t always there to lube me up.”
Bo grinned, leaning into her wife. “And I definitely don’t want you to combust, so I’m glad that you keep sunscreen with you on every expedition.” She turned her head and kissed Lara’s cheek. “It’s definitely a pity. I do enjoy lubing you up,” she responded. And of course the way she said it made it sound entirely suggestive. And she might’ve said it that way on purpose.
“It’s one of your super powers,” Lara replied, sounding more smooth than she felt, “Just need to look at me.”
“Then I’ll certainly have to keep it in working order,” she responded. “Though when you say I just need to look at you, does that mean with blue eyes or brown?” She asked. She was curious on that matter. After all, Bo could turn her eyes blue at will, not just when she was chi-sucking or turned on.
“Either.” Lara kissed her other shoulder, and snuggled her closer. She lay down, pulling her wife with her. “I like when they go blue, for obvious reasons. But they’re such a gorgeous shade of brown. Like the earth, where the sun shines through the canopy of a forest.”
Smiling as Lara laid down and pulled her along with her, Bo closed her eyes and snuggled against her wife. She rested her hands over Lara’s as she nestled her head on Lara’s shoulder. “You’re so romantic,” she mused. “But I’m glad that you like the color.”
“I love everything about you.” Lara dug her fingers into Bo’s stomach. “Your eyes, your nose, your lips. The way you smile when you’re in a good mood and no one is looking. The way your skin tastes after you’ve showered. The sound of your laughter. The way you light up when I’m talking…”
Bo shuddered a little when Lara dug her fingers into her stomach, but she couldn’t help but to smile at Lara’s words. “You’re going to make me blush,” she commented. It wasn’t easy to make Bo blush, but when it came to these kinds of compliments? She could definitely blush.
“I love you, too. So much.”
“Mission accomplished then.” Lara fell silent, enjoying the breeze rustling through the leaves on shore and the lapping of water against the boat. the rocking was nice, too, but mostly she let Bo’s heartbeat relax her.
For the first time in a long time, though, she felt that old fear about leaving Bo alone crop up, and she shoved it back down.
She just chuckled softly and laid there against Lara. The rocking of the boat was relaxing her to the point she felt that she could fall asleep. But she wasn’t one to sleep on her back, it wasn’t all that comfortable to her. She tended to sleep on her side or stomach. After a little while, Bo shifted, turning around so she was laying on her stomach on top of Lara. She settled her head on Lara’s chest, able to hear her heartbeat.
“Mm so comfy,” she murmured as he cheek nuzzled Lara’s chest a bit while she got comfortable.
“Mmm, of course you’d think that.” Lara made no motion to dislodge her, instead moving her hand to Bo’s hair and stroking it lovingly. “We make a pair, don’t we.”
“You make a good bed and have great pillows,” she commented. Even if Bo wasn’t currently using Lara’s breasts as pillows. She was definitely comfortable, and like a cat she’d protest being moved from where she currently was. “Yes, we do, and I love it.”
Lara had no intention of making Bo move from her position. It was a wonderful position, lets be real. “I think I’d be a very hard bed, from all my exercise. Do you really mind, though? I have to ask.”
“You’re soft and firm in all the right ways,” Bo responded with a lazy smile. “But no, I definitely don’t mind.” It was definitely a good thing, and Bo did like laying on Lara and snuggling her. And the rocking of the boat, the sunlight and the beat of Lara’s heart were all making it really difficult to stay awake. She hadn’t exactly been tired, but right now? She could easily take a nap on her wife.
Lara hummed lightly, as if she were trying to get Bo to do just that. She had nowhere she’d rather be or wanted to go, and moments like these were meant to be treasured.
The humming was pretty much all that Bo needed. She fell asleep, more than content and warm sandwiched between the sunlight and her wife. Definitely the perfect place for a nap.
