Who: Felix Dawkins and Eliot Waugh When: Backdated: End of March Where: A local gay club What: One Year Meeting Anniversary Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly Status: Complete
Felix could hardly believe that an entire year had gone by since Josh had left and upon realizing it he’d also realized that he hadn’t really thought about his ex in some time. Of course he hoped for the best for the younger man, but after meeting Eliot most thoughts of Josh had been moved to the back of his mind as they should have. Of course now he couldn’t help but wonder how different the last year would have been had Josh not left to continue his education on the East Coast. Would they have still been together or would something have still broken them up? Would he and Eliot still have met some other way and become friends instead? It was a strange thing to think about; being only friends with Eliot, because there was just something so undeniably alluring about the taller man that attracted Felix from day one.
Of course Felix didn’t have to worry about what it would be like to be only friends with Eliot and he was extremely glad for that and hoped that Josh had found someone else who made him equally as happy.
To celebrate their first meeting, Felix had suggested dinner and clubbing; figuring that they could save something more romantic for their dating anniversary a couple of months from now. Felix had made reservations at a restaurant a client had told him about and they had enjoyed an extremely nice dinner before heading out to a nearby club.

This wasn’t the normal club that Eliot and Felix went to on their nights out but this wasn’t a normal night out for them either. It was an anniversary kind of - that Eliot would admit had snuck up on him but luckily his boyfriend had remembered when they’d first met. Eliot would be the first person to admit that he didn’t always pay attention to the small details but balance was what made the two of them work so well as far as he was concerned. He leaned over to kiss his boyfriend’s cheek as they went into the club. “Drinks or dancing first?”

Normally when they went out clubbing, Felix wore a little more leather and mesh, but tonight since they had gone out to eat first, he had opted for a pair of black skinny jeans, a black button up shirt with silver embellishments and a pair of boots with heels that lent him a few extra inches so that he was only an inch or so shorter than Eliot as opposed to the usual five inches. Not that Felix minded being shorter than Eliot in the least.
Felix’s gaze went between the bar and the dance floor then back to the bar, “I say drinks first.” Of course they’d had wine at dinner, but that buzz had mostly worn off by now and Felix wanted a drink. “First round’s on me.”

“And with the second round - I can show you a little trick I perfected,” Eliot said, ducking his head down enough to whisper in his ear before placing a kiss just behind it. He’d been working with Margo on it and finally had it down - filling their glasses up with magic when they went out. And at home when he was just too lazy (or comfortable) to get up and actually pour himself another one.
He helped push them to the bar, ordering and then looking around the club again, old habits from the dreams cropping up for a second before he could stop himself from checking to make sure no one would pay too much attention to him doing magic.

“A trick, huh? And what kind of trick would that be?” As their drinks were placed on the bar, Felix paid then grabbed both drinks and moved away from the bar, knowing Eliot would follow him. There was a spot not too far away that wasn’t too crowded and would give them a few moments to enjoy their drinks before they moved into the mass of bodies on the dance floor. “I’m curious; what did you think of me when we first met?” Felix had never asked that question and he would be lying if he said he’d never wondered.

Eliot gave his boyfriend a small smile. “A magic trick,” he said once they’d reached the spot Felix had been leading them too and he took his drink from him. “I’ve been practicing it with Bambi so that I could get it just right.” He admitted. He was a little surprised by that question and he knew it showed on his face as he took a sip before answering. “That I’d either really pissed off some higher power who was looking to torture me by putting an amazingly hot and British man in front of me or that I’d done something to make that same power happy with me and they were putting you in front of me as some sort of reward.” He’d never admitted that to anyone before now and it seemed only fitting that he told Felix first.
“Now that I’ve told you - what did you think of me that first night?”
***
“A magic trick? I love magic tricks.” Felix knew that Eliot had been working on various magic spells with Margo and he couldn’t wait to see what they had come up with. “That’s good. My accent has always been quite helpful for me.” He smirked and took a sip of his drink, “I thought that you were incredibly handsome and a little mysterious.” After spending a few weeks pining for Josh, meeting Eliot had been exactly what he’d needed to get him out of his slump, “And I’m incredibly happy that I got out of the sweatpants and went out that night.”
***
“Only a little?” Eliot asked unable to resist teasing his boyfriend about that. “I am too. Although...I think I’d still have found you sexy in the sweatpants. It might have just taken a few extra minutes.” He eyeballed the glass in his boyfriends hand and concentrated for a moment before quickly casting the spell that he and Margo had been working on mastering, watching it refill.

Felix smirked and took another sip of his drink, “While I do still look mildly sexy in sweats, when I’m trying to catch a bloke’s eye, I usually opt for leather,” As Eliot began staring at Felix’s glass, he frowned slightly as he too glanced down at his hand moments before his eyes widened as the level of his drink went back up, “That’s bloody fucking fantastic!! How long have you been able to do that without telling me?”
***
“Trust me darling - the leather was effective.” Eliot said, his attention split between what he was doing and their conversation. He grinned back at him as he lowered his hand - flexing his fingers to work out the tension in them that those movements had left. “Finally perfected it about a week ago - I didn’t want to tell you until I knew I’d be able to do it each time.” He said, shrugging slightly as he took a sip of his drink. “It’ll cut down on the amount of time we have to spend waiting at the bar.”
***
“And I’m glad that it was.” Still smirking, Felix took a sip of his newly filled drink, “You can’t even tell the difference. Gotta wonder what else you’ll be able to do with more practice.” Ever since Felix had begun hearing about Brakebills and the things Eliot and Margo did in their dreams, he wondered what else they would be able to do as a result of them, in the waking world.
***
“I’m wondering if I’ll be able to figure out a way to incorporate this into my parties. Help out the servers a bit - and charge the clients a bit extra of course. I’m pretty certain the alcohol doesn’t come from the bottles here but it does take a bit of effort to get in the glass.” Eliot said, trying to sound casual but he was proud of himself and it bled into his voice.
***
Felix thought for a moment, “Well, you’d have to figure out how to do that without letting people know you’re a magician. I don’t think anyone would really understand if they’re not a dreamer.” Sure there were people who believed in magic tricks, the majority of people knew there was usually some sort of slight of hand so Eliot would have a hard time explaining his trick since it was real magic. ***
“Good point darling. Any chance you’d be willing to help me figure that out? Starting tomorrow of course since tonight - is about celebrating.” Eliot said, draining his drink and tilting his head towards the dance floor in a wordless question to his boyfriend about if he was ready to dance.
***
“I’ll do my best,” Felix wasn’t sure if he would be very good at figuring out a way for Eliot to use his magic at parties, but he’d try. “And I always enjoy celebrating,” Draining his own drink, Felix took Eliot’s empty cup and placed them both on a nearby table, “So lets go dance.”
