Who: Tyler and Klaus, with a brief phone call from Caroline What: Just two hybrids going on a murder spree When: Tonight Where: Out and about Warnings/Ratings: Teenish/some light murder Status: Complete
Klaus was on autopilot almost, since the second he had killed his biological father. He flew back to Orange County immediately. It wasn’t until he landed that he realized he couldn’t go home, couldn’t face his family. So he went to the one place he felt safe. His gallery. Walking inside he saw Tyler dusting off some frames.
Tyler. He had forgotten he told the hybrid to look after the gallery while he was away. And now that he was here, he realized there was no one he would rather see at the moment.
“I see you’ve been taking good care of my gallery,” Klaus said with a smirk. “Your job is done. Now you can come out with me.”
Tyler didn’t know where Klaus had disappeared to, and frankly he didn’t care that much. He did care that Klaus had basically forced him to take over the art gallery while he was gone. Tyler didn’t have much of a desire to work there, and even less of one to work there without getting paid when he could be working at his other jobs instead.
He hadn’t known how long Klaus would be gone for, but he was a little surprised that Klaus was back so soon. “You’re welcome,” Tyler said dryly, despite the fact that Klaus hadn’t actually thanked him. He put down the duster that he was using. “Where are we going?”
“For a drink,” Klaus said leading Tyler out of the gallery. He was sure to lock up, setting the alarm, before heading down the street at vampire speed, expecting Tyler to follow. There were a few bars on the same street as his gallery, but he didn’t want to be too close. Not for what he had planned. So he stopped at a bar a few blocks away waiting for Tyler to catch up.
Tyler didn’t know what he’d been expecting Klaus to say - maybe going on another pointless errand - but going for a drink wasn’t one of them. He wasn’t sure if Klaus meant of the alcoholic or the blood variety, but either way, that was normally the kind of thing that Klaus let Tyler do on his own.
Still, despite the questions he had, he followed Klaus obediently down the road to the bar. “How was your trip?” he asked after a moment, sure that Klaus’s answer would give him a better idea of what to expect.
“Fine,” Klaus growled. He didn’t want to talk or think about his trip. Tyler bringing it up only fueled the rage. They entered the bar, Klaus immediately compelled himself a drink. Telling the bartender to make it a priority. He didn’t want to wait for the guy to make everyone else’s that ordered first. He needed a drink now.
Once he had his glass of bourbon he downed it immediately, scanning the crowd as he ordered another. “Them,” he nodded to towards a blonde and a brunette. “I want you to take them outside.”
Klaus’ tone and facial expression answered that question well enough for Tyler. If Klaus was pissed off, this probably wasn’t going to be a good night for Tyler. He just hoped that Klaus didn’t ask him to do something really evil, like try to kill Caroline or Elena or Jeremy or someone.
He compelled himself his own drink, downed it, and then moved to follow Klaus’s command. It wasn’t difficult, especially with the gift of compulsion, to lead them outside.
In a blur of speed Klaus followed them outside. Without hesitating he sunk his teeth into the brunette’s neck. Drinking her dry. She fell to the floor when he was done. “Your turn,” Klaus said to Tyler with an evil grin. “Kill her.”
As Tyler watched the girl fall to the ground, he opened his mouth to protest. Klaus didn’t need to kill the girl. But before he could get the words out, Klaus was telling him to kill the other one. She had started pulling away from Tyler when Klaus had killed her friends but he hadn’t let go of his grip. But now she stared at him, eyes filled with fear, and before Tyler knew what he was doing, his teeth were in her her neck.
It wasn’t the first time he had fed from a human. He drank from blood bags most of the time, but he had always prefered blood straight from the vein and he had indulged himself a few times at Purgatory. But he’d always tried to make it a good experience for everyone, and he’d never tasted blood tinged with this much fear. He’d never drank every last drop from someone, and felt them go limp in his arms. And before he knew it, there was nothing left there, and he stared at the blonde body in mute horror.
This wasn’t the first time Klaus had drank someone dry. Though usually he didn’t do it for fun. Just to fill his appetite, and okay, partly for fun. One victim was usually enough for him, but tonight he had other things in store.
“Time for the next bar. Follow me,” Klaus said taking off for a club a few blocks away. You couldn’t leave too many victims in one spot after all.
Caroline woke up in the middle of the night feeling pissed off. Things had been better with Tyler since Mother’s Day. But after her dream? She couldn’t help but feel a little pissed off at him again. How could he let his little werewolf friends kidnap her? And not do anything about it? Yes he had helped rescue her, but he hesitated! She didn’t know how to feel. She knew she needed to talk to him though. She didn’t care what time it was, Caroline grabbed her cellphone and called Tyler.
“Just how many bars are we going to?” Tyler asked. Leaving a trail of bodies didn’t seem much better to Tyler than leaving a pile of them, but he guessed it wasn’t his call to make. And weirdly, he felt pretty good after the meal. He felt powerful, more powerful than he’d felt in his life.
But he was called away from focusing on that when his phone rang. He nearly ignored it, but when he saw Caroline’s name on the phone he knew he couldn’t. “Caroline? Is everything okay?” he asked. It was pretty late for her to be calling him, after all.
“You let them kidnap me!” Caroline snapped into the phone before she realized Tyler probably had no clue what she was talking about. “In the dreams,” she told him for clearance. “When your werewolf friends kidnap me you did nothing! You just stood there.” She had already said all this to him in her dream. Hell she even told them they were no longer friends and slammed the door in his face. But still she felt the need to talk to, or well yell at, the real Tyler about it.
Tyler was more than a little confused at Caroline’s outburst. He sure as shit hadn’t let anyone kidnap Caroline. If they’d tried, he’d rip their heart out. Or maybe that was just the bloodlust, still hot on his breath, thinking. But then she continued, and he had to force his mind back to the early dreams.
“I’m sorry, Caroline,” he said, a little sheepishly. “I was new at all of that at the time and dumb to boot. But this… isn’t really a good time.” Not with Klaus there. Not with the blood still hot on his tongue.
It wasn’t a good time? What happened to if she ever needed anything? Then she heard the music in the background. Well really she had heard it the whole time she had excellent hearing after all, but it didn’t really register. Now she realized, he was probably out with a girl. “Sorry,” Caroline said the hurt evident in her voice. “I’ll let you go.”
Klaus had already selected his next victims. Ready to take them out back. But wait, where was his companion? He looked around spotting Tyler on the phone. How dare he! He was supposed give Klaus his undivided attention.
Klaus compelled the group of women to go outside and wait for him. Then he made his way over to Tyler. “What are you doing?” he demanded his tone filled with rage. “Get off the phone!”
“Don’t be sorry,” Tyler said. “We can talk later, okay?” But before Caroline could answer, Klaus was yelling at Tyler to get off the phone, and without even thinking to say goodbye, Tyler hung up and put his phone back in his pocket.
“It was Caroline,” he explained, even though Klaus hadn’t asked. “How much longer are we going to be out here?”
Klaus really didn’t give a shit who it was. He ignore both Tyler’s explanation and question. “We’re going outside now,” he growled. “Our meal is waiting. Come on.” And just like that Klaus took off at vampire speed for the back alley. Once Tyler followed he gave his command. “You take those two. I have the rest,” and with that Klaus sunk his teeth into his next victim.
The night went on like that. Going from bar to bar. Killing numerous women. Klaus’s meal of choice. When he was finally satisfied he turned to Tyler, blood dripping down his face. “Give me your key,” he demanded. “You’re going to let me stay at your place for a few days.”
Tyler obeyed, biting into the girls and drinking deeply until they were dead. To his horror, as the night progressed, he actually found himself enjoying the hunt, even cracking jokes with Klaus about their prey as the night progressed.
And then, before he knew it, it was over, and Klaus was demanding his keys. “Yeah, Klaus, that’s fine, thanks for asking,” Tyler said, a touch of sarcasm colouring his words as he worked the key from its keychain.
“Don’t tell my family I’m back,” he added. He did work for Kol after all, and he knew Freya. The last thing Klaus wanted right now were his siblings coming after him trying to find out what happened.
Tyler didn’t need to confirm that he wouldn’t. Klaus knew that whatever he said, Tyler had no choice but to listen. “Can I ask why?” he asked after a moment.
“No,” Klaus snapped rather quickly. It was none of Tyler’s business. And not something Klaus wanted to talk about at all.
“Alright, then I won’t,” Tyler said, handing over his key. “Let me know when you’re done with my place.”
Klaus didn’t even bother to reply. The second he had the key he took off in a blur.
