Tyler couldn’t believe that he was stuck doing grunt work at the gallery again. Not that there was anything to not believe. The sire bond with Klaus meant that Tyler had to do whatever Klaus wanted, without complaint. But Tyler had two other jobs, ones that actually paid. He wondered if Klaus actually cared, and then realized what a stupid question that was. Of course Klaus didn’t care.
But being stuck here meant that he couldn’t be making things right with Caroline. He still didn’t know what he was going to do that; right now he was following Elena’s advice and giving Caroline her space. But it still rankled that he was stuck mopping the damn floor of the gallery instead of figuring something else.
With a grunt, he pulled the mop from the bucket a little too sharply, not controlling his hybrid strength as he did so. With dismay, he watched the bucket tip over, the dirty mop water spilling from the bucket in a wave and over the shoes of a man. “Oh shit, sorry,” Tyler said, realizing belatedly that maybe he shouldn’t have sworn in Klaus’s gallery. Well, it wasn’t like Klaus would ever hear about it.

Elijah had stopped by his brother’s gallery in an attempt to lure Niklaus out for lunch once more. Though this time it wasn’t the desire to watch over his sibling so much as the need to discuss some of the dreams that had been visiting him. Visions, almost memories of long ago times that he should have know way of knowing.
But as he stepped into the space, he found his shoes drenched in dirty water. Elijah’s gaze drifted to Tyler, one eyebrow arching. “Yes, I should rather hope you would be.” He wouldn’t say it was alright because, in fact, it wasn’t. Fine Italian leather shoes deserved more respect.
“Is Niklaus here?”
**
Niklaus? Tyler raised an eyebrow. He hadn’t really heard anyone call Klaus that, or anything other than Klaus, really. Except for Rebekah, in the dreams. He hadn’t really seen any of Klaus’s siblings in the dreams, but it suddenly struck him that this was probably Elijah. He sure seemed to match the description that he’d heard in the dreams. He tensed up a little. He wasn’t sure if Elijah dreamed of Mystic Falls, or of being an Original, but he would be on guard if he was.
“No, Klaus isn’t here,” Tyler answered. “Something I can help you with?”
**
I had hoped to entice him to lunch with his brother.” Elijah let his gaze drop, taking in everything about Tyler. The frustration written on every inch of his body, the subpar clothing, the chip on his shoulder…
“He has left you to run the gallery in his absence? Might I suggest avoiding the mop water foot bath with any actual clientele that visit?”
**
Yeah, it was definitely Elijah standing before him. “Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind,” Tyler said, and to his credit only a touch of sarcasm coloured his words. “I don’t think he’ll be making lunch though. You’ll have to call him.” Even though Tyler had seen Klaus eat actual food on occasion, he wondered if Elijah and Klaus even ate the same thing.
**
Only a touch but enough for Elijah to detect it without issue. The boy received something of a glare in return, one eyebrow rising as if Elijah were challenging that attitude.
“Yes. I shall.” And perhaps make some comment about the unappreciative help Niklaus had hired. “Thank you for being so helpful.” That, too, was said with a hint of sarcasm.
**
“No problem,” Tyler said, knowing Elijah’s thanks weren’t genuine. He frowned at the wet floor. So much for hopefully finishing everything early. After a moment, he added, “He’s probably at Baxter’s Bakery, if you wanted to look for him there.”
**
“Yes, I shall try there.” It was a fair enough suggestion, though Elijah bristled slightly at the thought that this peon would know better than him where to find Niklaus.
“And I should leave you to complete the tasks my brother has undoubtedly assigned you.

With Elijah, that was now five of the Mikaelson clan that Tyler knew was around. He wondered if the rest of them were lurking away somewhere too. He resisted the urge to sarcastically thank Elijah for ‘letting’ him finish the things that Klaus had told him to do. Instead, he said “good luck,” and, with a sigh, resumed mopping.
