Who: Klaus and Evie
What: Klaus is not happy about Freya putting herself in a coma and makes that known to Evie.
When: April 5th-ish? After Evie woke up from her dead sleep
Where: Freya and Klaus' house
Warnings: Mentions of poisoning, otherwise just a bit of bloodless arguing
The past few days had been torture. His sister in a coma with nothing he could to be research these damn ingredients. If it was up to him she never would have put herself in a coma in the first place. But Freya was stubborn and had put herself into a damn coma without even consulting him. Yes, Klaus was worried as hell but he was also pissed off. If there was one thing Klaus Mikaelson hated it was being left out of decisions involving his family. Not to mention he didn’t exactly trust the decision Freya made.
But there was nothing he could do about it. It had been made. Evie had gone along with it. So doing his best to help wake her up was all he really could do. And it had worked. Freya woke up. “Looks like my sister’s plan worked.” Niklaus said coolly to Evie while Freya got a bit more rest. “Doesn’t mean I forgive you.”
It had been an entirely exhausting week, and Evie had locked her emotions inside and focused on the job at hand. Which had been gathering ingredients that were spread across the world. She’d been in so many time zones that by the time she’d returned with the antidote and given it to Freya, she hadn’t even known what time it was, or even what day it was. She’d been exhausted beyond belief as she’d only slept when she was on planes, and even then it was only sparingly.
However, once Freya had woken up, she’d had her cry before Freya basically told her to go to sleep. All in all, Evie had passed out in Freya’s bed and slept for a good twelve hours before she finally woke up. And the world wasn’t ending. Bonus there. She went to get herself some water from the kitchen, not knowing where Freya was, but ran into Klaus. Not exactly the person she wanted to see the most after waking up, but she still didn’t flinch as she looked at him.
“I don’t expect to be forgiven. Freya’s alive, and that’s what really matters, is it not?” There had to be some sort of middle ground they could come to.
Of course Freya living was what mattered. But this could have been handled a lot better. It wasn’t all Evie’s fault. Part of it was his sisters. She’s the one who put herself in a damn coma. “Next time the dreams fuck with her,” and he was sure they would. She had already had two gunshot wounds carry over from dreams. “Perhaps don’t let her make such rash decisions.”
“As long as death isn’t imminent like with a fast-acting poison? I’ll try to find a different way to handle it. But I think we both know Freya is also stubborn and convincing her to do things a different way won’t be easy. Luckily, I’m also stubborn.” Jacob had taught her how to be stubborn and to deal with stubborn people. Though she was more heavy-handed when it came to her brother than when she was dealing with other people.
Evie was apparently stubborn, Freya was stubborn, but Klaus. Well he was probably the most stubborn of all. And when he didn’t get his way, when he wasn’t included in decisions especially life and death ones, there was no way he was going to let it go. “Clearly not stubborn enough,” Klaus shot back. Deep down he knew this was more the dreams fault than anyones. But he couldn’t exactly take it out on them.
“What did you want me to do? Argue with her about what to do until she actually died? Because that’s probably what would have happened.” Evie retorted. It was one of those realities that she’d refused to acknowledge for the past week while she’d been laser focused on saving Freya. She hadn’t been able to face just how close to death Freya had been from the poison because it would’ve meant getting emotional and she’d refused to be emotional. At least until Freya had woken up, then she’d let out the emotion.
“She wouldn’t have died,” Klaus spat, incredibly angry at just the thought. “She’s a Mikaelson.” Not something he ever thought he would say about his family. But after all his dreams? He knew better. They were the most powerful family around.
Evie looked at Klaus. She briefly wondered if she was way out of her element here. Unlike Freya’s family, Evie was perfectly mortal. She may have some superhuman abilities, but she aged like all other humans. And in her dreams, she just so happened to be in a line of work where living to a ripe old age wasn’t all that common.
She rubbed her forehead a bit. “Maybe, maybe not. But poison is not to be trifled with no matter who you are.” There was a pointed use of the word ‘who’ instead of ‘what.’ Because while she well knew Freya’s family were all vampires, or a hybrid like Klaus, she saw them as people, not monsters or animals.
Klaus could argue the points all fucking day. He did not like things happening without his knowledge. While he wasn’t over it he knew there was nothing that could be done about it now. Freya was awake and all was well. Or as well as it could be. “Next time,” Klaus growled. “Do better.”
