The instant Miranda had gotten a call from her sister earlier telling her she was being followed by a man she didn't know, Miranda went into overdrive. She told Oriana to stay in her apartment and wait for her to come and get her. There was a pit in her stomach. Even without actually knowing, Miranda knew her father had found Oriana. The first thing she did was call Aria to alert her that she wasn't going to be making her shift that night due to a family emergency. She jumped in her car and immediately set off for Los Angeles. Perhaps she should've called Corvo or Shepard for back up, but Miranda hadn't thought about that. This was her sister, she could handle this. Miranda wasn't a teenager anymore, and she could do this herself.
Finally, she'd arrived at her sister's apartment, taking some time to look around before getting out of her car. She didn't see anyone suspicious outside, so she headed inside, having a spare key. However, the instant she got to her sister's apartment, she could tell something was off when she saw the door was slightly ajar and looked as though someone had forced their way in. Clenching her jaw and swallowing the panic she felt rise, Miranda burst through the door. She didn't know what she'd find, but her sister was still there.
"You're coming with me. Your father's been looking for you for a long time." A man's voice said.
"I'm not going anywhere with you!" Oriana responded.
"Get away from her!" Miranda exclaimed as she charged at the man that was closing in on her sister.
"What the fuck?!" He exclaimed in surprise as Miranda shoved him. He stumbled back, then pulled out a gun. "Oh good, I can bring both of you back at once."
"We're not going anywhere with you, asshole." Miranda said, positioning herself between the man and her sister.
"You sure about that? I'm the one that's armed here." He said as he pointed the gun at Miranda.
"I'm not afraid of you." And she definitely wasn't. When her sister was being threatened, Miranda wasn't afraid of anyone. The only thing she was afraid of was losing her sister. She charged at the man. A gunshot rang out and Miranda cried out in pain as she stumbled back a couple steps. She grabbed her arm, the bullet having lodged itself in her shoulder. "You'll pay for that!"
As Miranda's anger rose, a field of pulsating blue energy appeared around her. Miranda clenched her fist tightly, and a ball of blue energy gathered around it. The man aimed his gun again, but Miranda struck first this time. She hit him with a biotic blast hard enough that sent him through a wall. He ended up smacking his head against the wall of the bathroom and his neck snapped, killing him instantly. Miranda stood there for a full minute before she realized what had happened. And then she realized her sister was trying to talk to her. Shaking out of her daze, Miranda looked over at Oriana.
"Miranda, what was that?" Oriana asked hesitantly.
"I...can explain. But first we need to get you out of here. Pack as much of your stuff as you can. You can come stay with me in Orange County. I'll call a couple friends for help cleaning up this mess."
"Miri, you need to get to a doctor," Oriana stated, moving closer to her sister as she looked at her shoulder.
"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." Miranda gave her sister a little pained smile. Oriana relented, and went off to pack as much of her stuff as she could. Blood was running down her arm, and she went to get a towel to try and staunch the bleeding before making a makeshift tourniquet. Then she pulled out her phone, made a call to Shepard, then texted Corvo and Isabela. She needed help now. Shepard would hopefully come in and help cover up the murder that Miranda had just committed. Which suddenly made her feel rather nauseous as she thought about it. She'd never killed anyone before in this life. But whatever she felt, she would save it for Shepard. Shepard would know what to do.
