Red Room modifications and advanced dream technology aside, a chest wound was not an immediate recovery, much to Nat’s chagrin. Stahma wouldn’t let her leave the premises, which was probably a good idea but still made her feel trapped, especially with her girlfriend having left with the twins to get them clothing and other necessities.
Nat kind of wished she could have gone with them.
So she invited Marguerite over, wanting to know how she was doing and because really, she was on the verge of losing her mind.
Of things Marguerite was not expecting, it was Natasha inviting her over. No real reason for it, just when she woke up that day, it hadn’t been on her radar. Still, she had the free time as she didn’t start rehearsals until a bit later than the non-Equity cast members. So finishing up the errands she’d needed to do before, the actress made her way to Natasha’s - ringing the bell once she got there.
The door buzzed, and Natasha’s voice came through a speaker, “Let yourself in, it’ll be quicker than me trying to get up right now.”
She probably should have warned Marguerite, woops.
Well that was worrisome. Still, Marguerite was used to dealing with the unexpected without even a sign of surprise so it was pushed aside as she let herself in and found Natasha.
“And now I see why you invited me over. Boredom.”
The comment was said with a light tone as she sat across from the other woman. It wasn’t hard to piece that together. Given she knew how Natasha was and the way she had told her to let herself in, it was clear that she wasn’t able to actually get out and that would drive someone like her quite mad.
Natasha chuckled, then groaned. “You’ve caught me. I’m bored. At least it coincides with wanting to catch up?”
She gestured in the direction of one wall. “If you want a drink, help yourself.”
The only reaction she had to the groan was a brow quirk. After all, she wasn’t a doctor and it wasn’t like she knew the specifics of what had happened. She hadn’t even known something had happened. Though that was the nature of Natasha’s work and the work she sometimes did for the woman. Instead she nodded some.
“I’m fine for now, but perhaps later. Though that is fortunate timing I suppose, even if the reasoning not so much.”
“How are things with you?” Natasha asked, after a moment spent trying to get a little more comfortable. “I’m afraid I haven’t been paying as much attention to your show schedule lately as I’d like.”
“They’re going well. I start rehearsals for Newsies in a couple of weeks,” The joys of being an Equity member - not starting right away. “Though the table read went extremely well. Otherwise I’m helping at Pimpernel Outreach.” So really, Marguerite’s life was how it usually was. No major changes, just her normal days.
“Couple of weeks. I’ll be up around then.” The life of a superhero - plenty of physical trauma but quicker recoveries. “Good timing on that show.”
“Performances in June, so you should definitely be able to make it. Unless you have something in mind for me to do before I get into the swing of rehearsals.” Because there usually was. And working such work into rehearsal schedules could be challenging unless the information she was getting was relatively local.
“Be careful for starters.” Natasha leaned her head back. For the time being she was certain they’d be recovering, but eventually they’d want to strike back. She just needed to get better to strike back first. “I might need you to do some undercover work soon.”
That caused Marguerite to quirk a brow. Usually she was only told to be careful when she was in the midst of doing the undercover work, not before. Well then, noted. Still, she did at least try to be careful - no matter what a certain younger brother might otherwise think. “But got it. I can send you my current rehearsal schedule as well.” She may be the leading lady of the show, but with how much dancing the Newsies did, well, she did have days without rehearsals as well which she could utilize if she wasn’t going to do anything before they started.
“Thank you.” Nat had kicked a hornet’s nest, that was what she was mostly worried about. “I’ll make sure you don’t have to worry about missing rehearsals or shows.”
“Of course.” Marguerite wasn’t too worried, but she could make sure to be extra careful - just in case. It was clear that whatever had happened to Natasha undoubtedly tied into her concerns, so she would just go with it. “But thank you, it’s appreciated.” After all, theatre was her life.
