Blossom was an organised person, she liked to keep things in order and have lists and the like. So she wasn’t too shocked when she was given the task of organising people for the upcoming dance -secretly she thought it was because they wanted her out of the way rather than micromanaging things.
She didn’t mind really, she could do with a break from things, she knew she was taking on far too much. If she did any more she was likely to burn out, and she didn’t want to think about how that could affect things.
Mostly, she was a little excited that should could maybe take a step back and enjoy the dance, since Tyler had returned she was more interested in having a bash at just having a good time. “You gonna have a date for the dance?” Putting her pen down, because she wasn’t really getting much work done anyway, Blossom propped her chin on the heel of her hand, peering at Anna. It have been a while since she’d been able to interrogate someone about their love life.
Anna really liked Blossom. She liked hanging out with the other girl, since they were both of the same mind when it came to their studies. Anna was absolutely dedicated, and focused on her grades, and it seemed like Blossom was, too. Highly motivated. Though, Anna was on her way out of school, just finishing the last few classes she had to do before getting her degree, and her mind was often on other things now. She’d been daydreaming about her next movie role when Blossom spoke to her and drew her from her thoughts.
“Hmm?” Anna asked. The pen she was holding against the paper in front of her had left a large ink blotch.
Laughing a little at Anna, Blossom shook her head slightly, “You’re off in the clouds just now,” it wasn’t like they were overly focused on anything, they didn’t really need to give this all of their attention any way. “What’s on your mind?”
It wasn’t like Anna spaced out all the time, so Blossom figured it must be something big.
Anna wasn’t really even aware of what she’d been thinking about. Keeping her mind off the fact that Wash was gone was a good thing. And she finally had a career to be thinking about, too--she’d talked with her Agent about the kinds of movies she’d like to take on next. She’d been thinking about comedy.
“Oh, nothing. Trying not to think about things, really.” She gave her friend an apologetic smile. “What are you up to?”
Blossom had been there, not too long ago. The not thinking about things stage. Just trying to get through it all. “This is gonna be your last big dance while attending college, right? Are you excited?” Blossom had mixed feelings about her future graduation, but she had another year at least to figure that out.
“And the winter season is always the best fun, right?”
“Yep. Pretty much.” Anna was looking forward to it. She didn’t do nearly enough things on campus anymore, now that she was working off campus and spending so much time with people other than her college friends. It was time to re-ground herself in campus life before she left the place for good. “I’ve got enough credits to graduate at the end of this semester. God, I can’t believe it. It’s absolutely insane to think I’ll be finished with school so soon!”
Then Anna beamed. “Yes! We should do an Elf theme for the dance. You know that movie? I can just picture it: Paper chains and paper snowflakes and everything?”
With a few people graduating, it was getting Blossom thinking about what she might do soon, when she was ready to graduate. She wasn’t sure she wanted that just yet though. “It is, soon you’ll be off into the great wide world, conquering anything you set your sights on.” Blossom was sure of that at least.
“An Elf theme would be awesome! It’s suitably festive and very wholesome.” And didn’t everyone like the sort of childlike wonder that came with it all? They could make the paper snowflakes too.
Oh, if only they could be students forever. Anna would have loved that, really. She enjoyed classes and the atmosphere on campus. But she had a movie career to get on to. So this was her last big hurrah.
“Yes! I think so, too! And it’ll give me an excuse to buy an amazing elf costume!” Anna clapped her hands together in delight.
