Who: Yue Katou What: Katou comes home after fighting mercenaries and realizes something is Very Wrong Where: Chateau Katou When: This afternoon Rating/Warning: Low. Katou's got a mouth? Status: Complete
When Katou got home after a long day fighting mercenaries, all he wanted to do was pass out and sleep. Maybe take a long, hot bath to help loosen his tense muscles. He probably shouldn’t complain, because at least he was never bored when things were going tits up in the OC, but fighting these guys for four days was exhausting. The weather today didn’t help much. He’d worn jeans, boots, a toque, and a leather jacket, collar pulled up to his ears. It was fine in the cooler weather, like the blizzard that was raging in his neighbourhood, but was a little much when he had wandered into the pockets of hot, sunny weather.
Hyde was going to get an earful when all this was said and done.
He didn’t notice something was wrong until he opened the door to Chateau Katou and realized that it was still blizzarding inside the house. He and Kanan had specifically ordered bulletproof glass last time this had happened, and yet, apparently, the universe was still out to break their fucking living room window. A small mountain of snow had already gathered in the living room. A frustrated sigh escaped his lips. He was going to have to board up that window and probably clean up that glass before he was going to be able to bathe or sleep.
Hyde and Carolina were both getting their asses kicked the next time he saw either one of them. He sent out an annoyed text message to Kanan, and, leaving his shoes and jacket on went into his bedroom to hang his sword, Shiranui, back in its place above his bed.
It was then that he noticed the blank spot on the wall where his Cross Rod usually hung. He’d received the Cross Rod early on in his dreams, a spirit weapon that had the ability to absorb the Astral Power of anything it killed. It also tended to absorb the negative energies of those it killed and could twist the mind of the person using it if they weren’t careful. He'd used its full power only once, to help Setsuna escape Hades, and it had been the cause of Dream Death Number 4. So it rarely got any use now that Shiranui had arrived. But still, he’d hung it on his wall as something as a souvenir. And now the two nails that held it up held up nothing but air.
He stared at it for a moment, wondering why on earth Wash’s dream mercenaries would break into his house and steal his Cross Rod, and then he felt a chill. He rushed to his bed, and ripped the mattress off of it, tossing it carelessly against his wall.
In his dreams, he’d used the Egg of Wormwood to wipe out Lucifer. Neither Katou nor Uriel, who had given it to him, had realized that it didn’t stop at just the evils of the world, but would, in fact, reset the world entire by wiping out everything. Good, bad, and everything in between. Setsuna and the rest, including fucking Lucifer, had managed to escape through the Gates of Heaven before the Star of Wormwood hit. But Katou’s last moments had involved watching it descend until its light had engulfed him and he knew no more.
And now, that same Egg that he’d used to end the world was gone.
