Rating/Warnings: Low/None

Tyler had heard Kate’s news about her marriage with no small surprise. He hadn’t even realized that she was engaged. That didn’t mean he was less happy for her though. He’d gone to the bar with her to celebrate, and bought them a round of shots.
“To a long, happy marriage,” he cheersed her, lifting his shot glass.
Kate was pretty excited. Her life was pretty damn good at the moment. She got married, had a great job (well, a couple) and an amazing dog. It was pretty good. Things were pretty good. She was invited out to drinks with her coworker and friend, Tyler. Thankfully, they chose a place other than where they worked.
She grinned brightly and lifted her own glass. “Cheers!” She said, then downed it. She gave a wince, then grinned a little more sheepishly. “It was so sudden. I mean, twenty-four hours after we were engaged, we were married.”
Tyler rose his eyebrows. “If you know, you know,” he said after a moment. Still, it seemed awfully quick. Kate had been dating her boyfriend - now husband - for as long as Tyler had known her, but he personally thought he’d prefer a longer engagement. And definitely a wedding ceremony that all his friends could come to. “You don’t regret not having a big ceremony though?”
“Nah, not really,” Kate responded after a big swallow from her beer. “I’ve never really been that type. Well, maybe a little. It just seems like everything’s so weird around here? You know, all the Orange County… shit? I didn’t want to chance anything. Besides, I wore a slammin dress, and got to party with all my friends afterward. What more could a girl want?” She gave him a grin. “What about you? How are things going with your redhead?”
“If that’s what you wanted, then that sounds great,” Tyler said, though truthfully he couldn’t really wrap his head around just eloping like that. But then, when he thought about what a headache it would be to deal with his mother and father during his wedding, maybe she had the right idea of things.
He didn’t even try to stop the smile that spread across his face at her question about Blossom. “With Blossom? They’re going great,” he said. “I’ve never felt this way about a girl before. I’m completely in love with her.”
That was totally what Kate wanted. Besides, dealing with her father and sister and … stepmother? Gross. No, Kate was happy to have her family of two. Three, if you include Barney. That was the only part of it she regretted, if she was being completely honest. She was sad that Barney wasn’t there with them the day of. But they had plans to make it up to him.
“That’s amazing.” Kate said, grinning softly as she looked over at him. Her eyes were sparkling just a little.
Tyler grinned. “Yeah, it kind of is, isn’t it?” he asked. He didn’t think he’d ever find a girl like Blossom, not one who was as kind and smart and beautiful as her. Not one who loved him like he loved her. He knew how lucky he was. “It looks like we both got lucky, huh?”
“Yeah,” Kate said after a moment, smiling over at him. Things seemed to have fallen into place for the pair of them. It really made her happy. “I guess we did.” She reached for the glass on the table, but it was empty. She nudged it in his direction. “Another round?”
“Definitely,” Tyler said, turning around in his seat to signal to the waitress. “Next round’s on me.”
Kate was pretty sure the pair of them were made to be besties. She pushed her own glass forward to clink against his, then leaned back in her chair. “You’re still going to school, right?” She asked. She had about a billion jobs, and kinda forgot that not everyone did all the crazy things that she did. “How’s that going?”
“I am,” Tyler said. He gave a bit of a wry smile. “It’s going. I’m not doing too bad, I guess.” Between the girlfriend, the werewolf transformations, his football and his job, he hadn’t been keeping up his grades as much as he should be. The worst part was, he knew that Blossom might not approve if she knew that he’d let them fall because he’d rather spend time with her than study. “It’s just a matter of time now before I finally graduate.”
School was something Kate felt she was good at. She’d thought about going back to get her Graduate degree, but she wasn’t sure what she’d want to study. And that wasn’t a bad sign. Now she had Clint, and friends, and she was working in places that made her happy. Besides, she was a trust fund baby. She didn’t really need a fancy degree.
“I’m sure it’ll go by faster than you think.” She said, giving him a smile.
“I hope so,” Tyler said, leaning back in his chair. “I’m so ready for it to be over and to be an actual working stiff.” Which meant actually thinking about what it was he wanted to do for work. He had been leaning toward being a personal trainer, but after everything that had happened in the last year, that just didn’t seem like a job that had much meaning anymore.
“And what kind of working stiff do you think you’ll be?” Kate asked. Getting a grown up job was something they all looked forward to, right? Then again, she loved her job(s) and wouldn’t give them up for anything, let alone a nine to five. Though, if she had an opportunity to be a superhero for hire? She’d jump at that chance. Maybe she should look into it at the Agency…
“I don’t really know,” Tyler admitted. “So much has changed over the last year that I don’t know if I still want to do the things I once wanted to.” He hadn’t even been sure if he wanted to finish with college, though in the end he figured that he’d already put in three years and he may as well finish. “But hey, I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually.”
“I’m sure we all will.” Kate lifted her glass to clink once more against his. Tyler was a good guy. She was glad she had him as a friend.
