She'd texted Brendann last week asking if he wanted to go get coffee sometime, and he'd finally gotten back to her. She'd mocked him for being a Big Important Chef Type, then settled on a date and time. And now she was sitting at a corner table, legs crossed, happily sipping black coffee. It felt good inside - it was getting damn cold around here lately. She had wondered more than once how it'd be in Scotland this week.

	Brend showed up a few moments later, waving and going inside to get his drink. He came back after that with a large cup, settling down by her and grinning. "You know, they asked me way too many times if I really wanted four shots of espresso. Uh, yes, that's why I asked for it. There's milk in here too." (Reply to this)

	"Or being a chef. We run on caffeine and alcohol." He shrugged at her question, half wanting to be as exuberant as he knew he was capable of being, and half wanting to play it cool. 	Annie just shook her head. "Dani will be okay eventually. And I read him the riot act the last time he was a chickenshit asshole; he doesn't need to hear it again." She wanted Sindre to feel guilty and ashamed, not run for a restraining order. "I'm glad you're good, though. You actually look it." She teased gently. (Reply to this)

	"Maybe, yeah. I haven't finalized ours with Dani yet, if she even feels like dressing up now." She hoped her sister still wanted to go out. Halloween wouldn't be half as fun if she had to go alone. Maybe you could see what Keller's doing? (Reply to this)

	"You're sexy, too." Annie stuck out her tongue at him, but smiled at the singing bit. "Man. It just seems like it'd be so ... nice to date a musician. They're all really mellow." 	"I guess not. Just not used to it. Uncle Sam is only a little younger than Daddy, and Daddy's meant to be like ... well, add twenty years or so." Annie smiled. "Dani probably told you, it's just us. Mom, Daddy and us kids, Uncle Sam, Aunt A and their son, and my grandparents. No other blood relatives." (Reply to this)

"Mom and Dad just have me and Lilo and Cass and Cassie, but on Dad's side, his parents had a lot of kids. So yeah, Keller and Miniver are my half-uncles technically and Teja and Torii are my aunt and uncle on mom's side, and Sable's my cousin, and so's that guy Riordian, technically, and if you consider marriage, Sin is related to me and so's Soren because Grandpa Toki's married to Skwisgaar too. But that probably just exploded your head." Brend shrugged a little bit, drinking the remainder of his coffee.

	"A little bit." She laughed, though. "I don't think you can really go by marriage, though, because if you go by marriage, we'll be related eventually. I mean, you can't look at my brother and Torii and not think they'll wind up joined at the hip for all time."
