Romilda had been in fine form since getting back from the accident. Well, that wasn't entirely true, there had been a few days when she struggled somewhat to grow accustomed to her new wand; it was as if the thing knew that she had loved her old one, had not wanted to lose it. She normally wouldn't have been thinking that way, probably, if not for the ceremony she'd participated in with Felixa. It was different, to lose a wand at the same time and in the same way as a wandmaker; it made her feel that she ought to connect more with her own wand. And so she'd tried, with this one, but it hadn't been easy. The dragon heartstring was fiercer, more passionate, than the hippogriff talon in her old wand, and the elm more calm than the alder. Or perhaps calmer wasn't the right word -- she wasn't a wandmaker, she didn't have the right words, but she had come to an understanding with her wand, in the end.
When she'd finished with her work for the day, she escorted Zach out of the building, and then returned to her department. There she leaned against the grille of lifts, waiting for Tonks, and ran her fingertips over her new wand. She had a feeling that she did not understand it fully, but that it might not entirely understand her either. They would get to know each other better, she was sure. Maybe it was different bonding with a wand at her age than when she was new to magic; it made sense to her on an intuitive level. She could ask Felixa later for confirmation.
Sticking her wand back into her pocket for safekeeping, she looked up, grinning at some of her fellow hit wizards and witches as they left. Romilda adored her job, as well as the majority of the people that she worked with. She especially liked Tonks, and was looking forward to spending a bit of time with her outside of work.
