Who: Luna Lovegood & Harry Potter (and Hermione and Ron if they want to join in) What: Luna goes on the run from the Ministry When: December 27th, late afternoon Where: The forest outside of Luna's house Rating: PG Status: Incomplete
Luna barely made it home. It wasn't safe to apparate from the Ministry, so she'd had to floo instead, and she was surprised she hadn't slurred the words. Her visit had gone horribly. The Ministry officials had dug up an article she'd written about Muggle tales involving witchcraft, which had prompted a very long questioning session. She hadn't answered the questions to their satisfaction; they'd gotten angrier as it had gone on.
It had to be a drug. A spell wouldn't do this to her, and when would they have cast the spell? Besides, they'd practically forced her to drink the tea; she had a feeling if she'd kept refusing, they would have poured it down her throat. She'd certainly been intimidated into drinking it.
She'd started yawning within ten minutes. By the time she got home, she was scared by how tired she was. They'd definitely overdosed her; she only hoped it wasn't a dangerous amount. She knew one thing for sure: she couldn't stay anymore. It was only going to get worse, and she couldn't risk them overdosing her... or deciding she was a lost cause.
She packed a bag and left a note for her father on the table, just saying that she had to leave for a while and not to worry; she'd be back when she could. She left before her father could come back, stumbling out the door and into the forest.
Luna made it to the clearing she'd seen Harry in before dropping her bag, half-collapsing into the snow. She had to cast the patronus now, before she was too tired to cast anything. Harry had told her to send it if she was in trouble... And if nothing else, she was sure they'd let her stay till the drug wore off. She pulled out her wand and concentrated on happier times. Closing her eyes, she whispered, "Expecto patronum."
The silver mist poured from her wand slowly at first, until enough had come out to shape itself into a hare. It bounced around the clearing happily, and she smiled at it. Find Harry, she willed mentally, hoping that it would have enough strength to find him... And that he'd have an idea of where to find her.
