Kevin laughed, and squeezed her gently. It wasn't like he hadn't gotten to have plenty of conversations with Su, even when they weren't alone, but it never failed to entertain him when they played off each other well. "Poor Mr. Chair, with his wife crushing on some other guy," he said, heaving a sigh. "And poor Mrs. Couch, only able to look and not touch. This whole room feels tragic now."
He considered the stairs. They weren't too steep, and there were railings, but if he was carrying Su, he probably wouldn't have much room to maneuver with his hands. Unless she was on his shoulders, but then they'd have to be careful about hitting the ceiling. "I could try carrying you," he said. "But I need to go up and get one of those law books from the library to write up a proper disclaimer so that you can't sue me if we fall. Get it? Sue me?"
It was a terrible pun, but it amused him, at any rate. "Or you could just promise that you'll only Su me, not sue me. Don't add the e to the end."
