Severus still wasn't sure why Serafina Zabini was suddenly interested in getting involved in school politics. If you weren't a teacher, it seemed the most likely time to get involved with the school was while your children were attending. However, Blaise Zabini had finished school more than six years ago, and Serafina had never shown much interest in the school then. Her assertion that she'd been focusing on her family was nonsense: Blaise was her family, given how often she blew through husbands, and while her son was in boarding school, focusing on him would have involved focusing on the school. So if she hadn't bothered with it then, why was she bothering now?
Perhaps it was simply boredom. However, Severus didn't particularly mind if Serafina was getting involved out of boredom. Unlike many of the upper crust who involved themselves in the school, she was intelligent and wasn't completely focused on tradition. Severus didn't mind tradition, provided it wasn't ridiculous and there wasn't a better way to get things done, but some of the families involved with the Board felt it was the only way to do things.
Still, Severus wasn't the sort to take time out of his schedule to visit with everyone who'd expressed interest in the school. He knew Serafina, and had for years. They'd been friends in their younger years, though Severus would hesitate to call anyone a friend anymore. He didn't mind taking the time out to speak with her, and since Severus wasn't used to social visits, having a business-related reason for it made things easier. As time approached for Serafina's visit, he stashed away most of his paperwork and ordered tea, keeping only one file out to occupy him until her arrival. There was no point in wasting time while waiting, after all.
