Tracey reached out hesitantly, resting her hand on Zach's knee. "It does and it doesn't, you're both right. Physical pain and emotional pain... they both heal over time, but... sometimes they leave scars behind." And if anyone knew about scars, it was Tracey, whose free hand came up, fingers brushing over a scar on her chest. "You might not see the emotional scars, but they're there, inside. The pain of losing someone might not ever go away entirely. We never forget the people we loved, or the pain that comes from losing them. But as impossible as it might seem now, it will fade, and soften, and change into something different. Something more distant, I guess." It was how she felt about her sister, at least. A distant pain of loss that sometimes plagued her when she thought about it too much. "And I don't think you can use Cedric as the same example, Zach... you're in pain over him because there were years and years where you weren't processing that the way you should have been, because of the potion. And coming off of that has made it all fresh again."
