It wasn't right, it wasn't fair, and Zach really didn't want to see his father any time soon. There had been a look the man had given, and actually Zach hadn't even needed to see his father to see it. He had known, known what his father thought - of Colin that was. His father was weirdly non-violent toward him. But...whatever. Somehow, if his father knew, it made it more real. And it was real enough for Zach right now.
"No it doesn't," Zach replied to Theo's claim, "Cedric still hurts as much as before, and Father gets horribly drunk about Aunt Adele!" That hadn't been something Smiths talked about - even with each other, much less anyone else. And Theo was half-Smith, but he was a Nott, and Tracey wasn't Smith at all. But his father...Zach knew the truth, as he had as a kid, when his mother regularly replenished the supply of whiskey without saying a word.
He hadn't been able to mention what happened with Colin again.
