Patience was worried. She'd done a very good job of not being worried, despite the conversation she'd had with Remus; she'd managed to convince herself that there was very little to be done about the future conflict until it came. She wasn't sure if Fred's note was a sign that it had now arrived, but she was fairly certain that whatever he was coming over to tell her, it would not be the most pleasant news.
There was a chance she was wrong, of course, and she refused to let her imagination spin entirely out of control before he even got here. She bustled around making a pot of tea for them, just to have something to do with her hands, an activity that she could stop and forget about if necessary. The tea was steeping, and she moved about, getting cups for them, finding the honey in the cabinet. She wasn't hungry at all, but there were fresh scones and butter if he was hungry.
It would have to be something fairly important and unpleasant for him to avoid an offer of food, though, and she wasn't sure she wanted to offer until she had heard what he had to say. No, that was silly - she was being silly, anxious over nothing. The tea hadn't finished steeping yet, but she poured herself a cup and took a seat by the window, curling her legs beneath her as she cradled the warm cup in her hands and breathed in the steam from the tea, letting it relax her. She could keep her nerves in check until she knew she had a reason to worry.
