.)We permit characters from any X-men series or universe. (Generation X, Excalibur, New Mutants, X-Force, X-Statix, X-Men the Movie, and X-Men: United). Players may play as many characters as they want, however, for purposes of balance, both heros and villains must be played. If you start playing an X-Men, your next character must be a villian (either Brotherhood or Hellfire), and vise versa. Also keep in mind the balance between older and younger X-Men.
a) You are allowed to create original characters. However, if you apply to play an OC, you must also apply to play a canon character. If you apply for both characters, you must play both equally. Again the villian/hero rule applies.
.) Plot is a major factor within this RP, and the mods will make it a special point to involve as many character as possible in the RP. If you have a plot you wish to play out, that involves more than just your character, run it past the mods first. It is highly unlikely we will say no, this is just so things stay relatively in character. Players need to be encouraged to explore their chars/make solo plots by themselves instead of always relying on main plot. ALSO if your plot requires NPCs, let the mods know and they will be more than happy to play them for you.
.)Any OOC posts or chat logs must be posted at _unite_. Place all logs behind an lj cut with a heading (characters involved, place, brief synopsis). If you have any questions on this matter please refer back to this, or consult one of the mods.
.) If you are not entirely familiar with a major character's personality, history etc, or, if someone else can play the major character with more skill than you can, do not play them. Please choose your characters wisely, as if you are not participating, or you show a lack of knowledge about your character, the mods will act swiftly, and take the character from you. The removal of characters can also occur if a mod finds you not participating to the standard required. If you are playing a major character, you are expected to post once every seven (7) days. If you're an original character, it is expected that you post every ten (10) days. It is also highly suggested you make at least two reply posts. It does not have to be in the same thread, they can be in two entirely separate posts. If lack of participation on your part has been noted, you will be issued with two warnings. On the third warning you will be removed from the RP. This rule is rarely enforced strictly, just post with some regularity!
.) STRICTLY No God modding. Characters should, and will get hurt. God modding players will swiftly find their characters missing a few limbs if they are caught ^_^. If there is one thing the Mods hate more than God Modding, it's being Mary Sue. Please, try, TRY and stay in character.
.) I’m sure this could have gone along with any number of rules, but because of its importance I wanted it to stand out. We will not be playing favorites, if you have to go on hiatus, you will have to reapply for your character. It slows things down if we are waiting for certain characters. You’re character will be made available to be applied for after two weeks without prior arrangements.
.)It is incredibly important that you have AOL Instant Messenger, because most RPing and logs will take place in AIM chat rooms. Players are expected to participate in a group chats and message board style RP. Big scenes that require all characters will take place via messageboard, 4 or less characters can take place over AIM.
.) To avoid confusion in chats and journal entries, this is how things are done: a.)Do not use astericks (**) or colons (:: ::) when writing your characters actions. [[Telepathy/directed thoughts/psionic speech]] ((OOC when talking in chats and comments)) When posting in a journal: strikouts cannot be read by other characters. Private thoughts should be put behind a cut, marked private.
b.) If it is about a MAJOR plot point or storytelling arc, only one of the two mods (Meesha or Kris) can call up a group chat c.) If it's a minor plot arc that you guys are playing (a student outing or a party or something) anyone can call up that kind of group chat d) If you are going to call up a Chat, you must be willing to do four things: 1) Be able to keep the chat on target/topic 2) Log the Chat so we all can see what happened 3) Edit the chat when it is done 4) Post the log of the chat in the OOC community as soon as you are able. It needs to be posted within a few days so everyone knows what has come before and what has gone on. This prevents the action from staling for too long.
e) If a mod calls a chat and you cannot be there, please let us know ahead of time
.) It's important that we have contact info (both e-mail and AIM) for every player. The allows us to get in touch with you for chat invites or if we have question about your character. Once you are accepted, we will ask you to POST HERE with some additional contact information
.) All sex scenes must be properly labeled as having mature content and posted behind a LJ cut.
.) Please make sure to join communities, and not just friend them.
.) This should really be rules #2, but I'm lazy and didn't want to renumber them. All players should have ONE JOURNAL FOR ALL THEIR CHARACTERS. Its easier that way. The game probably won't be using the actual journaling function that often, but if you should just label the entries according to what character is doing the posting. Mostly the journals will be used to "correspond" (ie: email, send announcements, etc) to other characters.
