Got the job! I'm now an honest-to-Andraste policeman, complete with shiny uniform and a gun that I might even be able to hit something with someday. I'd still rather have a sword and shield, and I'd definitely rather have armor than this bulletproof whatever--does it really work?--but when in Orlais and all that.

Though it would stop the local gangs in their tracks to see a man in full-plate armor wearing a sword running towards them and shouting, don't you think? Maybe I should see if I can get special permission to try it. Might scare a few of the local drug dealers into sobriety.

Ooh! I have some armor!

...errrrr, I'm not sure your armor would fit me. Pretty sure my shoulders are broader than yours.

No, it's not like that! It doesn't fit me! It's a suit of armor! It lives in my dining room.

Ah, got it. Still no guarantee it'd fit me, though. And badly fitting armor equals pain. Why do you have a suit of armor in your dining room? Seems unusual out here.

It might! You're people-shaped, right? It was in the house when I got it. It's there to be shiny, and to be scary at Halloween!

It really works, promise. You don't want to get shot, it hurts like a son of a something bad.

Oh, I believe it. And bullets would rip through even full-plate armor, I suspect, and bring nasty bits of shrapnel with them. I'm not serious about preferring armor to these vests in this case. For one thing, the vests weigh a lot less. Far easier to dodge in. I am serious about missing the sword though. And it'd certainly make an impression, don't you think? Shiny sword to match the shiny buttons on my new uniform!

...waaaaaaaaait a minute, you're speaking from experience? About being shot?

Depends on how thick the armor is, I'd suspect, but it also depends on the bullets. But swords aren't really good at a distance, Alistair.

Of course.

Smiting from a distance is so impersonal. I prefer to go and brain or cleave my opponents from up close. Otherwise, how can I guarantee customer satisfaction? Death, freshly made and hand-delivered! If you are unsatisfied with your death today, please fill out this survey and we'll get back to you.

Do I want to know the circumstances?

I just don't like pain! It sucks, and it's all ... owchy and ... painful. Among other things.

Eh, pissy succubus. She got mad I told her dinner that he was about to be eaten.

Yeah, I've never really gotten used to it either. But I still prefer close-range fighting to distance, given a preference. More chance of pain, sure, but also a greater chance that I'll actually get the job done.

Succubus, succubus...which ones are those again? Aside from eating-people-things, which doesn't narrow it down much.

Eh, I can do both, but I prefer the thing that keeps me from having to get stitches. I'm not used to so many healers being around!

The ones that try to get people to shag them and then suck out their soul that way.

As a rule. Do not mistake this as sarcasm though. You worked hard to reach this point, and that is deserving of praise.

You haven't struck me as the sarcastic type. Really, thanks. Though I think the hard work starts here, actually.
