Anybody out there need a spare kid? I've got eight. Well, technically only the two and a half, but the big ones aren't adoptable and I can't give away the Skwigelfs.

Relatedly, who here knows a good place for an alky Californian to go and mingle without the presence of booze?

I'm okay with stealth stabbing, but yeah, not so much fighting. I shot a guy in the foot once!

Of course! Want him over here so you and Mom can have the house to yourself?

Accidentally, right?

There's no such thing as having the house to ourselves, we have strays. I'm good with getting her out of here, though. I have a hotel's main desk programmed into my phone. But he's been wanting to see you for a while now, anyway. Says if you don't get to babysit this time around, he's going to eat Stitch.

Cooks are known for their vices. We drink, we smoke, we fight, we fuck. But I draw the line at certain drugs. I need people that can cook, and if you can cook through a hangover or withdrawals, that's fine. But tweakers have no place on a line, and they sure as hell don't need to be my grill chef. So uh. No, on purpose.

... that's sort of an empty threat, Stitch can take care of himself. He just wants me to carbonate grapes for him again.

Damn, son. You need to watch your temper. And you know how I feel about firearms.

I think he just misses his brother, is what I think.

Tweakers plus sushi knives equals bad times, Dad. I shot him in the foot to take him down for a while so we could tie him up and stick him in the walk in.

... and carbonated grapes are awesome. I miss him too, though. Want me to come over now? I don't think he's met Gizmo yet, you can have the house, still.

I'm actually at a cafe right now, your mom's got night duty. I told her I was joining the circus for an evening, and Cassie's over at the Skwigelfs', anyway. But I was thinking Wednesday, if you don't have work.

Nope, that's inventory night, and I can do that from home. He can help me swear at the meat people!

Kidding!

He's quite proficient at that all by himself, he doesn't need someone to play devil's advocate.

I also don't trust him with my meat orders. I'd end up with none of my offal and just hamburger!

And hot dogs and bacon. He's very particular.

That does it, we're having tripe when he's over, and he's going to love it.

Tripe comes from exactly one place. I could tell her how many hot dogs come from, unless you buy kosher.

We do buy kosher, and she doesn't eat meat much, anyway.

Kosher dogs are a thing of beauty. And I know. She's why my veggiehead menu's so darn good, she taught me how to cook for people with special diets.

Oh, I could put sweetbreads into mac and cheese. Would go nice with some St. Agur. Hmm.

It's meat, pasta and cheese!

It's sad we think it's fancypants food. People ate stuff like sweetbreads because all the rich people got the steak. It's the stuff that poor people at.

YOU. You bring Mom to the restaurant some night. I'll cook you up a tasting menu, and give her the veggiehead tasting menu.
