Dove sono - where am I?

Why do I know English? I have never even met an Englisher. And this is not my home.

It seems I have been subdued and held. And induced to write with this ... thing ... instead of proper ink and quill. Leonardo, is this your doing? If so, you had no need to kidnap me!

Look, someone from the old home turf.

[website]

Don't let your head explode, I don't really feel like cleaning.

You and I are from Italy. Judging from what you've told my darling brother just below this, around the same time period.

Oh, dear. You're going to have a lot of slang to catch up on. Here's the rundown - cool means good, lame means uncool, and handicapped means lame.

Merda. Did you speak English in ... our time? (Che stupido!) Or is this how people simply speak now?

I learned it after many years, living in Her Majesty's colonies.

You probably learned it because you probably replaced someone who knows it.

Goodness, where are my manners? Damon Salvatore.

Your brother informed me, and also informed me that apparently I have "fallen into" someone's life.

My name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Was there a branch of your family in Firenze, if I may ask? I believe my father had dealings with a Conte Salvatore.

Father really was, but I'm worse, I promise.

Another phrase you should learn is "butt-hurt". You are.

That just sounds obscene. Does it have to deal with the Navy practice, or is it more slang?

I will offer you a gentlemanly warning: do not make me raise a blade to you. You will lose the ensuing fight, I assure you.

A little bit of both. But in this case, slang.

It's almost sad how sure of yourself you sound, amico.

Duly noted, and were you absent from Firenze and Venezia for twenty years? I was well known. Sono assassino, "amico".

Oh, yes, yes, I know the assassin. How dreadfully terrifying.

If you find me, you can cut off my hand, how about that? Well. If you can find me and catch me.

No one's kidnapped you, not besides the storm, most of us got here the same way. I did, my brother did, most of us here on the boards did.

If it isn't English you usually know, what is? And what year was it? I'm guessing you're not used to computers, if you're more used to more used to quills.

I speak Florentine. Apparently the city-states I knew have turned into one Greater Italy, so I suppose Italian is the better answer. The year was 1499. I had just ... had my dealings with Rodrigo Borgia.

Damon was right, someone from home.

Stefan Salvatore, the other one is my brother Damon, feel free to ignore him, most of us do. Do you have any idea where you've landed?

My name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze. If the flag-draped fortress I am standing at the outside of is any indication, I am in London.

Most people tend to land there or New York, so that's not so unusual. Have you found your identification yet? Do you know whose life you've fallen into?

Identification?

There is a card of some kind in the pocket of this suit. It lists an address, but that is not my name, and it lists no occupation or further detail.

Address is usually a good place to start. Probably be able to get a better idea of occupation once you're there. Some people replace someone not so much different from themselves, some people replace someone at the opposite end of the spectrum.

You are from Italy as well? I was born in Rome. My name is Damien Thorn. Just curious, but what year was it before you came here? We've upgraded a bit beyond quills and horse-drawn carriages in this age.

So I am seeing ... I suppose I should take it as proof that the Devil does in fact exist, and that I shall likely meet him when my life is over. I doubt God will look favourably on me ignoring Him for most of my life, but I doubt He could blame me for doing so, either.

Yes, they both do indeed exist, God and the Devil. As well as their sons. Though it's a bit different here, they aren't at war. Jesus is here as well.

Not at war? What madness is that, signore?

The church must have self-destructed.

Not madness. They probably would be fighting elsewhere. But this is a different reality, a different dimension. Things go a bit different.

Of course evil is never condoned.. but I don't think they are at each other's throats. More like a "live and let live" or a "you don't fuck with me, I don't fuck with you" type of feeling going around. Also, they are here too. Physically here.

You will perhaps forgive me if I doubt that until I see it with my eyes. While I no longer consider myself a church member, La Chiesa Cattolica governed my life for too long to have it beaten out of me entirely.
