I just received the most delightful letter from one of my neighbours. Apparently, he thinks Thing and I are from hell - how charming!

I didn't know that we attract paranormal investigators, though. It's quite interesting, non?

Oh psssh. You should hear what they say about Petit and Henry and I. Of course, down in these parts, everybody believes in the paranormal, and voodoo and gris gris. They say my boy's the reincarnated soul of some archduke who got murdered, blah blah, yada yada. And that's not accounting for all the stories about their eyes. I think their eyes are gorgeous.

Hi. I'm Artan. And who are you, lovely lady?

They always make up the most interesting stories for things they can't explain. Or for things they find even remotely unusual.

Morticia Addams. Enchanté, monsieur.

And the more confused and upset they are, the better the story. The bayou is known for its stories of the unexplainable.

The pleasure's all mine, beautiful.

The bayou has its own special charm. My husband always found it romantic... Thing, on the other hand, still has nightmares about falling in.

I think it's a reasonable nightmare. Don't want the gators to snatch you up and make you lunch. Not all of us have the great pleasure of not being able to die.

So where are you, Morticia? You seem fairly knowledgeable about the swamp we call home.

Thing is an Addams in all but name... he's durable, but he's very easy to lose. That's all the thrills of being a disembodied hand, I suppose.

I move around, mostly. Although, Grandmamma always spoke so highly of the bayou that I have a charmingly dismal place in New Orleans.

Disembodied hand? Right on. We don't have pets, really. I guess the gator out back could count, Petit named him and everything, but I really don't count wildlife as family.

Do you? Wow, there's a lot of us down here near the City. Well, if you don't have anything doing come Thanksgiving, you can come eat with us. It should be pretty mellow, just the family and a few of our friends. We try to play things low key.
