Various stages of death and un-death... Reanimation of basic cellular functions... Appetites for grey matter... I'm like a kid in the proverbial candy store.
If that store, of course, was populated by flesh-consuming humanoid creatures. Which, I suppose, it very well could.

Not to say it was not a trying time, by any means. I am sure such an epidemic was difficult for certain individuals. But the science..! Such an incredible happening!

Though, I am in a mood for that aforementioned candy. Hmm, I wonder if the outbreak caused a shortage of lemon drops.

Actually, it's not that all that rare for this dimension. The undead are pretty common here. In fact, this is the second time in nine months that zombies have shown up here in droves.

As for scientifically interesting? Well, I'll leave that up to the biologists. I'm pretty sure the physics of them have been explained.

Indeed. If it were certain that any loss of human life could be prevented, such occurrences could prove to be of great scientific interest. The necessity of violence is most unfortunate; perhaps if they could be studied safely, they might prove to have some form of sentience advanced enough to allow communication between us.

My thoughts exactly! Some sort of containment exercise. Imagine the possibilities! Reanimated dead tissue is just the tip of the proverbial ice-burg.
Though, my son would no doubt remind me of the implications as outlined by modern motion pictures. He can be a bit of a downer at times.

Communication, though? Quite intriguing. Yes, I hadn't considered that possibility, but perhaps a dialogue from their perspective might further enlighten us on the nature of their physiological and cognitive developments.

Technically, in a sense, animation and reanimation of "dead" tissue has long since been achieved through the application of electric impulses. However, there is a time limit. The reanimation of long-dead preserved tissue is something else entirely, and does indeed raise fascinating questions, both biological and philosophical.

If one of these creatures could be captured and restrained, I may be able to utilize the ability of my people to create a direct telepathic link between myself and another being, and by so doing, determine whether its sentience is indeed intelligent and somehow still... human.
