Rosie-doll )

James and Peter is on. You know, the Robin Williams Peter Pan movie? Back home, they called it Hook.

This is a fantastic film. Any movie with fairies in it is a win in my book, but then there's Bob Hoskins as Smee, and that's just great. And it's also a brilliant commentary not only on balancing the necessities of growing up with the need to remember one's youth: Peter Banning is fairly useless when trying to save his children, but Pan is too shallow and capricious to care about much of anything that isn't right in front of him. It's only by embracing both the adult and the child that he succeeds and ultimately defeats Hook.

And all in all, Hook fails because he can't do this. Hook does nothing but cling relentlessly to the past: he defeats the crocodile and keeps him as a trophy, slays Lost Boys but does nothing to eradicate them permanently, loses his archnemesis and then goes out of his way to bring him back. And this is his downfall: the Lost Boys defeat his pirates, Peter recovers himself and bests him at swordplay, and then he's destroyed by the empty shell of the croc. Hook himself seems to recognize this by the end of the film--Peter offers him one last chance to leave Neverland and never return, but rather than embrace it, he maintains his enmity with Peter and attacks, leading to his own death.

Bangarang!

So I was hoping to find someone knowledgable in acupuncture. I have chronic back pain and I can't take drugs for it. I've had some success with acupuncture in the past but my guy didn't make the universe jump with me.

[Current Mood |exhausted]

I am so totally exhausted I can't even look at a computer screen. I think the world might end.

Um, the past couple days have been spent dealing with tantrums, crying, sullen silence, and fits of rage.

When does parenting become a miraculous joy, or whatever it's supposed to be?

Oh yeah, there's that, too. Alex and I, for reasons we can't fathom other than dumb luck have children now. Orphaned, genius children.

When I stop chasing them around to keep some semblance of peace, that's going to be a horrific thought.

[Current Mood |homesick]

I don't have any brothers I can embarrass anymore. I guess there's Nathan, but I'm not really that motivated to find something to embarrass him with. I can tease Sophie and Rose, and it's kind of the same, but not really.

It's kind of weird what triggers the 'homesick' button these days.

Oh well. Other than that, life is awesome, so no complaints from me.

My debut with Cirque De Soleil was delayed, until this weekend. It's nothing to do with me and more to do with sudden changes within the performance.

Frankie, Meggie, I've a pair of front row seats with all access passes for the both of you on Saturday night, my first performance. I do hope you can both make it.

So, for anyone who was worried: I am not a mathematical genius. I'm okay at it, mostly thanks to measuring for cooking and stuff, but not like, scary-numbers-brain-guy.

Two days in, haven't felt paranoid about it yet. Might kick in the end of the week though, I'll find out I guess.

I believe it is time to...be out in the world again.

How does this work? How does one go on about this? I still miss Brooke, but I feel like I cannot waste anymore time feeling this way.

So.

Hello, again world. My name is Jacen Solo.

What sorcery is this?! Who dares to summon Shang Tsung without prior correspondence?? I know I did not create a portal--- oh wait, no. It was a tornado. Ahh, I suspect Fujin for this treachery. That fool!

It would be just like the God of Wind to do this in jest. This is most certainly not my palace in Outworld. Why am I here? I will have answers. This is not an event I had anticipated.

Apparently this is the hormonal part?

I'm not nauseous. I'm sitting here bawling for no reason. Which infuriates me, which perpetuates the cycle.

I think I hate you, Dean.

The intercontinental Franciscan hydrogenates the hibernated Ouijas and shot and azimuth until the wheels fall off.

How happy we are, all night long in the moonlight pail, in the shade of the mountains brown. For All mimsy were the borogoves, who lived upon nothing but crumbs.

If you ever happen to go to Gramble-Blamble, and visit the museum, take a look on the 98th table in the 427th corridor in the right-hand room off the left wing in the Central Quadrangle of the Magnificent Building, if you don't, you will never see them.
