You know, I'm good with the "not being able to eat chocolate" thing most of the time.

But then? Suddenly, it's the strongest urge. I REALLY wish it didn't taste like mold when I put it in my mouth.

That's karma... the souls of allllllllll the innocent cacao plants you've singlehandedly been responsible for dying are getting their revenge!

Also, I'll be staying with Ares until further notice. :)

But their only goal in life is to make chocolate! It's not my fault, really!

Oh, is that where you've been? I was wondering.

Nooooo. Their goal is to make baaaaaaaaaby cacao plants!

Err... that's where I've been sleeping, at least.

Your house is crazy. And Anteros doesn't like me.

It's not my fault some enterprising sou-- err... person found a way to make them into chocolate.

What have you been up to? Anything fun?

It is not crazy. You lived in a house with eight sisters, Apollo and who ever else decided to pop by and stay awhile. Ours is no where near that bad. And Anteros doesn't KNOW you!

Oh! We are starting the nursery this weekend. Want to help? It could be bonding time for all of us.

I've been doing nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing even close to fun. except maybe one litttle thing.

And it is crazy. You forgot Helios and Artemis. And none of those people were pregnant, see.... normal! And Anteros does know me.... or did. He may adore me... I was using it as an excuse.

I don't think nursey bonding time is really the place I want to be the third wheel, Psych...

Oh? And what little thing would that be?

But I'm not a crazy pregnant lady, I swear! I don't have any moody swings, and I didn't throw up once! Besides my weird cravings, everything is fine!

You wouldn't be a third wheel!

Ummm... you, Anteros, and me? That's three. And why do I have to bond? Besides, really... do you want me decorating a nursery?

Yeah, everything's fine. Suuuure. Have you *heard* your weird cravings? Erato would be disturbed. I'm a delicate flower... I can't be exposed to that sort of thing. That's why I'm staying with Ares and Aphrodite

Little thing? I've been being read to. It's glorious.

Because you are the godparent...duh. The baby will be there too. And really, you don't have control over what it's being decorated with.

Uh-huh. Again, you lived with Apollo. Oh, right. Because Ares and Aphrodite never have loud sex.

Oh. Well, now. Who's doing the reading?

I'm the whatnow? That sounds important. scarily so. Did we vote on this? And if I don't get to decorate, the overabundance of pink might depress me. Do you want a depressed muse?

Geoff Chaucer. He reads like a dream...

Uh-huh. Basically, should anything happen to us - and Aphrodite, of course - then guess who the lucky new parent is!

It's not going to be pink, I don't think. Maybe a little bit, but not all of it. I haven't decided.

I bet he does. Is he cute?

You should put lil baby skull with bows around the room. it'd be very cute!

He's absolutely lovely. Tall, and blond, and he reads like he's the story come to life...

Err...no skulls. This is why you would be there to wet the border paper while Anteros puts it up and not to pick anything out.

Aww! Ask him if he wants to come help decorate the baby's room. He could read to us while we work.

Awww. That sounds fun! But I'm allergic to non-artistic manual labor. I have wiggly fingers for that sort of thing. Wallpaper gives me hives. And I think "m getting my hair bleached that day... I'll knit a blanket though for you.

You're so scary. Cute, but scary.

There is no way in Hades I'm inviting my crush friend over to help you decorate your scary nursery.

Well, I would use my wiggly fingers, but Anteros is still getting used to his powers and likes to do things the hard way. Mel...we drove to a restaurant the other day and were in the car FOREVER.

Knitted blankets are lovely.

I'm not scary. I'm simply immersed. It's so wonderful being pregnant.

Oh come on! He can even read some of that poetry stuff you like.

"That poetry stuff" I like?

Psyche. This is GEOFFREY CHAUCER. One of the greatest writers and poets of all time. I am not having him read Dr. Seuss or whatever other weird crap you think is suitable while you decorate your nursery the hard way in bizarre flower patterns. That's like... inviting Babe Ruth to play T-ball.

Please, Melpomene. He won't have to read Dr. Seuss until after the baby is born. There really is only so much Go Dog, Go I can handle.

Would you have rather had me say he can read "What to expect when you're expecting"? Because that's what I'm reading right now. I was thinking of you, not about me.

If you don't want to invite him, that's fine, but you didn't have to be mean about it.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I'm not being mean, hon... but you're being silly. He's not reading after the baby is born either. And Dr. Spock is on the no-read list, with Dr. Seuss. In fact, all doctors are there.

And he's not coming. Because I'm not inviting him. Because I'm hiding and wont be there.

And because I'm keeping him all to myself just because.

You don't want him reading the sort of stuff I like when I'm there if you want me to be useful.

Which I won't be. Because I'm allergic to wallpaper.

Pregnant people are scary. I'm gonna go hide with Robbie.

Gah.

OK... look. Ditch the wallpaper, and I'll help. Wallpaper is bad for the baby.

But I want a design and I have no particular artistic talent with painting besides bowls of fruit.

Anteros might though. I'll have to ask.

Hello.... Muse? I could paint the Mona Lisa on the wall if you wanted me to. Though that'd be sort of creepy baby decor. You want a border or a mural?

I was thinking just a border, but I haven't asked Anteros what he wants at all.

If you're the one painting, what will we do?

Well... the walls would still need to be pained a base color, and you need curtains, and 4 or 5 hours to put together a crib with an allen wrench and instructions only in swedish and chinese, and fold all the itty clothes into the dresser, and such...

Psyche, really... do you want ordinary for your child, or one of a kind? if you insist on wall paper, at least do hand painted.

We haven't even gone LOOKING for any of that stuff yet! I thought we would get the walls done and then look for stuff that matched, you know?

And baby clothes. Have you seen those baby clothes stores? They are HUGE. I know I could just handwave most of the stuff we need, but I'm kinda determined to do it all like a mortal.

Did I tell you I've decided on a full term?

[Melpomene]

Who knows if I'll get to experience it again, you know?

Err... I don't know what order you do things in. And I don't generally wander baby stores... babies are kinda weird. they're all small and... small.

If you need to do this the hard way, why don't I paint you boarders, and you and Anteros can muck about putting them up, ok? It'll be fun. and bonding. and no wrenches.

[Psyche] If I ever need a baby, I'll let you do the whole... pregnant thing for me. Deal?

That works. We can do that. Small steps, you know.

[Melpomene] Deal.
