Someone else I know currently is experiencing the other side of that problem. He's replaced someone who appears to have been a devoted husband and father.

I'm Inspector Meg Thatcher, RCMP. Back home, at least. They've declined to reinstate me here.

Name's Rick O'Connell.

I... would rather be back fighting the mummy that killed my wife and I need to know if my son and brother-in-law are okay.

Mr. O'Connell, when you say a "mummy," are you being metaphorical?

No, I mean a real mummy.

Interesting. The last time I encountered anything remotely supernatural, it involved an unscrupulous shipping company head who had arranged a ghost ship hoax involving the Robert MacKenzie as a coverup for a gold robbery and the illegal dumping of toxic waste.

Well I don't know about that, but Imhotep was one bad guy to deal with.

Imhotep--as in the official who served as chancellor to Djoser of the Third Dynasty? The Leonardo of ancient Egypt?

As in the High Priest Imhotep when Seti I was pharoah.

I do apologise. That isn't one of my better periods of history.

I'm intrigued by what you've said so far, should you wish to continue.

Suppose everyone should know how dangerous he is in case someone stupidly attempts to ressurect him. Again.

That happens often? Who's responsible for ensuring the public safety?

Well... it's happened twice that I know of. The first time was accidental. My wife... well she wasn't at the time, we had only just met, accidentally read from the Book of the Dead. She didn't know what would happen.

The second time, the reincarnated version of Anucksunamun found him and raised him from the dead again. Which is what I was dealing with after that bitch killed my wife.

That's a little reassuring, that it's only happened twice. Though I imagine it's of very little comfort regarding the fate of your wife.

The Medjai have been guarding the tomb for over 3000 years.

I'm supposed to be one of them... a reincarnation myself. But I failed her...

Having never been married, I cannot imagine what you are feeling now. But I do understand what it means to fail a solemn duty.
