I have decided that I rather like living inland. Shipwreck cove was home for quite some time, but it was still... well, it was still a shipwreck.

The Captain has fallen into rather a nice piece of property here, I've already walked the boundaries while he's napping, and he's not awake again just yet so now i'm out of things to do but see if I can find my own fun on the internet.

So, hello everyone, I'm the Pirate's Code, meant to be lived by or something like that, and I've been here almost a week.

Almost a week an' y'ain't gone crazy yet. Doing good, so far.

Sookie Stackhouse, by the way. Nice t'meet you, Cody.

Oh I'm already crazy. Worst this place could do is make me sane.

Or bored.

Or a girl. Which might be amusing for me but I doubt the Captain would appreciate it any.

And it's nice to meet you as well Miss Stackhouse. Bill's Miss Stackhouse?

Gotta say, I agree. Bein' sane in this place'd be like... well, bein' a fish on dry land. Bored's the same way, an' I don't know about you bein' a girl- were you a manly book?

Good Lord, the questions I ask in this place.

Bill's Miss Stackhouse, yeah, but Sookie's fine. I meant t'say hi, but Bill's had me workin' on a few projects, been stuck in the den all th'time.

That's... that's actually a very good question. I was just a book, well, not just a book, a codex, THE codex, fairly sure the Captain always called me 'he' even then though.

Sookie it is. Having projects is always a good thing, especially from Bill, though you never heard me say it. Heard he was the one keeping the Code before the Captain and myself arrived, you know much about that?

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that none of Bill's books are just books. But yeah, 've seen a copy of the Code around. Gotta admit, I never had much reason t'go snoopin' around in... it? You? Let's go with it, but Bill an' Jack talk 'bout... it, all th'time. Right important to them- s'good, for people t'live by some code. Don't seem many do, anymore.

S'the book-you still here? Gotta imagine that'd be right weird. Still have t'say, y'takin' being a human real well.

Don't think so, don't know if the book-version was ever here in the first place, since there's only one. Bill must've written down his own copy, makes me wonder how comprehensive it is.

Have the Captain to thank for that, I think, kind of treated me like a human before I was one. For that matter I kind of acted like a human before I was one.

S'in his writin', yeah. Thought it was... something done, I guess. Pirates keepin' their own books. Considerin' I know a grand total of three- four now, I guess. M'sure he'd letchya take a look at it, f'you wanted. S'not like he's very private, 'bout his knowledge.

You... acted human? How's'at?

I'll have to come see it sometime. Trust Bill to get things right, if not get everything.

Oh I'd knock over drinks and stick pages together and things. May have bitten a dog once.

M'sure you could add a thing or two, bein' 'round for so long. You remember it all?

...Lord, listen t'me. Y'don have t'answer that. M'too nosy f'my own good, sometimes.

Of course I do, it's what I am. Don't worry about it, questions is better than guessing.

I think.

Considerin' m'not educated enough t'make the guesses make any sorta sense? Prob'ly. 'Think that's always been my problem- stickin' my nose where it don't belong. So f'ya do ever not wanna answer me, don't worry 'bout it.

Pirates aren't as secretive a bunch as they like people to think.

Well, that and most of them are natural-born storytellers, and those that aren't learn it pretty quick. That's kind of the main source of entertainment when you're out at sea that long, tales of oneupmanship.

Oh, that much I got. Jack seems t'consider it his obligation to wander 'round telling stories to... himself, from what I can tell, about how he beat somethin' or other, somewhere're other. We establish on a near-daily basis he's a better pirate than me, even though I never claimed t'be a pirate inna first place. Does make organizing more entertainin', though- 'specially when he feels like sneakin' up.

And nobody's really sure if he was that crazy before or after Teague got ahold of him. Six of one half dozen of the other I'd wager.

Any story he starts with 'God's honest truth' is bound to be a lie, or at least highly embellished. Teague's the same way. 'God strike me if I tell a lie' is the opposite however, those are the true ones.

Truth's often a lot stranger than anythin' someone could come up with, in this place. Doesn't make either option any less interestin'.

One'a these days, y'gonna have t'let me buy you a coffee or somethin', an' we can swap stories. Can't guarantee you I'll have much t'offer, but then that's why I'm buyin' the drinks. ;)

Sounds great, sometime when the Captain's got something else to keep him occupied for an hour or two I just might take you up on that.

I'll let him know when he wakes up from his nap. Sounds like it'll be entertaining at any rate.
