The Art of Picking Up a Stranger Who: Evan & Faith Where: The Bronze When: Nov. 28, Evening
Faith Lehane didn't have anyone to spend her holiday with. She had actually spent much of it in travel, either hitchhiking or, in places that it was too cold to walk, talking a bus across the United States. She had intended to get to LA, but much of her money had run out in Sunnydale. She had heard that this place was full of vampires, so it seemed just as good as anywhere else to set up shop, do what she did best, and hopefully make a little scratch while she was at it. Hunting didn't exactly pay the bills, but some vamps had nice stuff that could be pawned, and that was how she got the majority of her money. Right now she had enough money to keep a roof over her head at a local motel, but she'd like to move up in the world a little.
Right now, though, all that she was focused on was enjoying herself for the night. This club (the only real game in town, apparently) was pretty decent, plus it was full of attractive people to dance with. Right now she was dancing alone, though, enjoying the beat to the music as she swayed her hips back and forth.
Faith at least had the option of remaining or leaving Sunnydale, Evan on the other hand wasn't faring as well. When the young woman hit the town limits on what was to be a pass through that evening, the left front tire gave out after hitting something that punctured a hole in it, and wouldn't it just be her luck that the spare in the trunk of the Mustang hadn't had enough air left in it to be of much use. The only luck that seemed to be on her side was that she had been able to get a tow into one of the garages, but that was as far as her luck ran as the flat couldn't be changed til morning rolled around. Apparently closing time was closing time to the yahoos who ran and worked at the garage.
Finding a place to bunk for the night at a local motel, Evan decided to make the most of things and headed to the club that apparently was the 'in place' to hang-out in the town.
The main reason it was 'the' place to hang was because it seemed to be the only place. The only other club in town seemingly had been bought out and turned into something else or another. Faith wasn't sure. Still, The Bronze more than did its job for the time being. Faith *hoped* that she'd be able to still make her way to LA eventually. She just didn't want to end up completely on the streets.
When the song she was dancing to ended, she headed over to the bar to get herself something to drink.
Evan entered the place just as the music faded off and made a trail toward the bar. As far as places went it wasn't bad, she had been in far worse establishments, at least it was clean and didn't seem to have much in the way of a 'bad element', and she wasn't thinking along the lines of the supernatural. Though she didn't mind a good brawl now and then, Evan wasn't exactly in the mood for such that night.
"Give me a beer." The hunter ordered the drink when she settled in at the bar.
Since the place seemed to be picky about carding, Faith herself had to settle for a coke. She had found a liquor store in the area that didn't care about age, so, if she was still hankering for a beer, she could always swing by there later. When the other woman sat down at the bar, Faith gave her a lazy grin. "Sounds like someone's having a tough night," she said.
Evan took a nice long pull of her beer before a glance was cast in Faith's direction. "That transparent am I?" Evan countered with a smirk playing at her lips.
"Only a little," Faith said, still grinning. "It's really how you said it more than anything else. Sunnydale not treating you good?"
"Just a couple yahoos who insisted that they couldn't remain open a few extra minutes to change a flat. I mean, really, what do they have in this town that the people have to close down exactly on the hour they're suppose to." If the 'good ole boys' would have been accommodating Evan would be well on her way far from Sunnydale rather then sitting there soaking down a beer and chatting with some chica. Not that Faith wasn't hot and seemingly interesting company, Evan would just rather be on the road toward a larger city where she might have found more action.
"Stuck here right along with you," Faith said, taking another sip of her coke. "I just ran out of money trying to get to LA. Figured I'd be better off hanging here for a few months with a roof over my head versus getting to LA and sleeping in a cardboard box."
Evan would have offered a morning ride to the girl except for there being one little catch to that idea. She was a stranger. And in Evan's book strangers tended to mean trouble, which was the last thing she needed right now. "I could probably extend you cash enough for bus fare to L.A." She offered as it'd be better then being stuck in the town for any stretch of time. At least that was Evan's opinion.
Faith shook her head. "I'll get there eventually," she told Evan. "Not in a real hurry. Of course, this place could bore me to death and I may run away anyway." She laughed. "Thanks for the offer, though. I appreciate it." She just didn't want to feel like she owed anyone anything other than a good time for one night.
Evan nodded understandingly. While she may have easily made the offer of cash for bus fare out of the town, Evan wasn't as easily accepting of cash for herself as it made her feel indebted to the person making the loan or plan out giving her cash. "Looks like we're both stuck here for a bit, or at least for the night." The dark haired hunter was really hoping she'd be able to drive out of Sunnydale the following day.
Faith nodded. "I've already been here for about a week," she admitted. "There really isn't much outside of this club, sad to admit." Of course, this club, small as it was, actually made up for a decent bit. Then again, Faith had been making due with little for all of her life. Why should this situation be any different?
"I'm sure something could be found to do in this town if a person looked hard enough." Evan returned with a light chuckle. Heck, she'd even try and entice the other woman back to her motel room just to keep boredom at bay while she was stuck in Sunnydale.
Faith smirked. "Oh, I'm sure that you can find something if you're willing to look in the right place." If Evan suggested bringing Faith back to her hotel room, then she'd totally be for it.
"And am I looking in the right place?" Evan tossed the question out just prior to taking a drink of her beer. The look she gave the girl then was easily readable as were the insinuating words that sprang from her mouth.
Faith finished off her own drink. "I'd say you are," she said playfully. "Want to get out of here and find some real fun then?"
That had a grin curving her lips. "Sweetheart it'd sure beat sitting here trying to shoot the breeze with a stranger." Though after their little bit of real fun Faith wouldn't be a complete stranger to Evan. Draining off what remained of her beer, Evan slid off her stool with a look to the other girl. "Lead the way." Whether it was her room or Faith's, Evan didn't mind as either would suit their intent just fine.
