prompt #13 - possible
Title: Keep Telling Yourself
Author: [info]andwhenwespeak
Fandom: Numb3rs
Character/Pairing: Amita/Terry
Rating: R
Word Count: 184
Prompt: #13 - possible

Terry made the first move, really she did. Amita couldn't possibly be held responsible. Terry made the first move, and she wasn't subtle, she didn't bother with finesse and Amita wondered what she'd done, what signals she was unconsciously giving out, that Terry thought it was okay to turn to face her in the elevator with her tongue between her teeth and a look in her eyes that couldn't be mistaken for anything but what it was as she smoothed Amita's hair back behind her ear.

And if Amita breathed in, sharply, when Terry's hand lingered on her face, if she moved forward just a little too eagerly as Terry leaned in, then, surely, she wasn't to blame. It wasn't her fault.

And if, when the elevator doors opened, she was flushed, and breathing through her mouth and her hair was maybe oddly tangled and mussed, and if Don and Charlie looked at her kind of strangely, like there was something stuck in her teeth, while Terry strode off toward her desk, serenely calm, well, that couldn't be helped.

Because Amita wasn't to blame.
