A Wall (Legend of the Seeker, G, prompt #108); Sunshine (Young Americans, G, prompt #104) Title: A Wall Fandom: Legend of the Seeker Characters/Pairings: Richard/Kahlan Rating: G Word Count: 216 Challenge/Prompt: #108 - water Summary: If this was all he had for the rest of his life until they could be together in the Underworld, then he would take it.
Every second of everyday, Richard was reminded of the wall between them. No matter where they went or who they talked to, his mind was always on Kahlan and how, as Zed often reminded him, they could never be. Never was far too long, but Richard knew that if it took that long for him to finally get his chance to be with her, he would wait it out. Everybody – strangers, friends, family, and enemies alike – could see that he was in love with her. Not that it did him any good. If anything, it only put both himself and Kahlan at greater risk.
So, for the sake of everybody, for the sake of the world that he was meant to save, he continued on, trying to focus on his destiny and task at hand instead.
But in moments like these, when he was given a moment to just sit and watch her as she gathered water from the stream, that bright and unclouded smile on her face, he allowed himself to sit and dream. If this was all he had for the rest of his life until they could be together in the Underworld, then he would take it, as long as it meant that she would remain at his side until that moment came.
Title: Sunshine Fandom: Young Americans Characters/Pairings: Jake/Hamilton, Emerson (OC) Rating: G Word Count: 271 Challenge/Prompt: #104 - heart Summary: Please don't take... my sunshine... away...
“You are my sunshine… my only sunshine…”
How could this have happened to them? One moment, they were the perfect little family: a father, mother, and a beautiful baby boy on the way. The next… this. Hamilton was still trying to find his footing, but he wasn’t even being given the chance to breathe. He was all alone in the world, save for the little bundle in his arms that was wailing at the top of his lungs.
“You make me happy when skies are gray…”
He was singing, a soft little hum that was falling from his lips as he rocked the baby in his arms. Emerson, a name that Will had tossed out and Hamilton had grabbed without much thought, was restless. He didn’t want to be sung to or to be held. No, Hamilton knew what he wanted. He wanted his mother. He wanted Jacqueline; he wanted Jake.
Hamilton wanted her too.
“You’ll never know, dear… how much I love you…”
He felt so lost without her. He was alone. It didn’t matter that he was holding his son or that this should be one of the happiest moments of his life. He had always wanted to be a father, but not like this. Not without his Jacqueline. He couldn’t do this without her. What happened to all of their plans? All of their hopes and dreams? They, along with his wife, his love, his heart, were lost on that operating table. They had only been able to save one.
Hamilton just wished that he had been the one to go instead.
