prompt #9 passion Title: No More Dreams Author:andwhenwespeak Fandom:Numb3rs Character/Pairing: Amita/Charlie Rating: R Word Count: 156 Prompt: #9 - passion
"Did you…?" Charlie asks. He always asks. And the fact that he has to ask, the fact that he genuinely doesn't seem to know unless he asks, bothers her more than almost anything.
"Sure," says Amita, smiling, reaching over to set the alarm clock. "What time?"
"Before seven," Charlie says, yawning.
And it's not like she's lying. She did. She almost always does. Charlie has excellent technical skills, she'll give him that. But there's something so empty about it, something studied. The way he touches her… it's like she can hear him thinking, calculating, adding up actions and reactions, noting her response, her breathing rate.
Amita used to dream of grand passions, of raw, desperate need and crushing, filthy want. Wet sheets and sweat and tangled hair.
"Good night, then," says Charlie, pressing a brief, dry-mouthed kiss to her lips.
"Good night," she replies.
Amita's a grown-up, now, an adult. She doesn't have time for dreams.
